Rome (CNN) -- Five prison inmates are expected to appear in an Italian courtroom Saturday to testify on behalf of Amanda Knox, the American student convicted of murder in Italy, according to her lawyers.
Knox, was sentenced last year to 26 years in prison for the death of Meredith Kercher at the villa the two shared in Perugia, the central Italian town where both were students. -
So what's the general US consensus about her? Is that Italian prosecutor just stubbornly sticking to his guns and in fact she's easily innocent or did she do it? And if she is innocent how did she get convicted? I never could figure this one out based on what I've seen.
And to liven up this thread here's the TV version of Amanda Knox:

And here's the real Amanda Knox:

I recall the story. I dont really know if she did it. Something weird happened there, thats for sure. Doubt 5 prison inmates can shed any real light onto anything though. Arent inmates notorious for making shit up so they can get reduced sentences? Doubt a judge can hear these people without taking it with a grain of salt or they can give the judge something that is gonna get the girl released.

would most definitely stick it in her. -
amanda knox is a cutie, even in that pic where she looks as evil as possible. i hope she gets off so i can tempt fate with her
-
nothing says credibility and truthfulness like 5 prison inmates
-
I could provide Ms. Knox, or Ms. Panettierre for that matter, all the DNA they might need . . .
-
Yeah... Wait, what was the question?

wp ess
-
women and men go to the same prison in Italy? wonder how many rapings occur per day
-
she has that look (and maybe part of it is being tried for murder) that she would be the best fuck youd ever have in your life. EVER

I think most in the US that have heard of the case think she's getting screwed. Pretty girl in a foreign country - we're conditioned to lean that way. I was briefly interested in this case last year or whenever her trial was and remember reading how the news stories were vastly different in the US compared to European countries. In the US they were generally approached form the angle of innocent girl getting railroaded while over there it was generally lunatic American. I thought it was interesting (also fucking sad) how much impact nationalism had on the news, even when they are very similar and allied nations.
I think she's guilty and as others have said, there's nothing that will turn a 6 into a 9 faster than being a crazy murdering bitch. -
Dirty italians trying to steal our white girls.

for a canadian, I've oddly followed this case pretty closely, and even watched an hour long special on it a few weeks ago. the italian justice system is fucking wack. originally they imprisoned a 3rd black guy, and apparently he ended up being innocent, so they switched him out for another black dude who's currently in jail now. but even one man was falsely imprisoned, and they learned that it was a completely different dude, amanda knox and her boyfriend remained the other people involved. that hardly makes sense. From what i've heard theres essentially no evidence that links either of these people to murder, other than a knife that had no traces of blood on it having both of their dna on it, which is obviously pretty normal considering it was a common knife that they used in the kitchen

I think I saw the same special. The other interesting thing is that Amanda and her boyfriend only knew each other for six days prior to the murder yet the prosecution claims the British girl was killed because she refused to be part a foursome (or something like that). Definitely seems odd.

There's no physical evidence, other than the knife, that they were involved. I don't know how uncommon that is. Just looking at the wikipedia page for Casey Anthony because it was the first murder trial to come to mind, it looks like the only physical evidence against her is air samples from her car showing chloroform and compounds "consistent with decomposition." It can't be determined whether they are from human or animal decomposition. That's more/worse than the knife evidence, but it's still not definitive and that's an open and shut case. I'm guessing most murder trials are like this, where there is a small amount of physical evidence, a shit load of circumstantial, and a motive. The one part this case is missing is any type of motive beyond "that bitch is crazy," which is obviously huge and why most are so uncomfortable with the conviction.

I don't remember all the details of the case, but I do remember that one dude was jailed because Knox said that he did it. He was released when a friend saw his arrest on the news and came forward with an alibi. The guy later won a civil suit against her for this.
I could probably be talked into "she probably did it, but they didn't have enough to convict." I can't understand how people read about the case and conclude that she's innocent or even likely innocent, though. She/they would have to have an extraordinary amount of bad luck to have so many things that make them look like they did it when they did not. I mean the bitch bought bleach the next morning after supposedly being up all night drinking/smoking and having dirty awesome sex. That's just fucking awful timing for getting proactive about how dirty the shower is if you didn't murder your roommate the previous night. -

terms like 'suffocation, chloroform, neck breaking' on her browser. obviously im sure if police wanted to they could find the same searches on my computer at some point. Not to mention the fact she didnt report her daughter missing for 30 days, and that the so called nanny she claims possibly took her child, doesnt exist.
also, the interogation techniques used by that famous italian prospecutor seem pretty low. how'd they'd ask her to imagine a scenario and ask if thats something that could have happened, and then when she says, 'i guess so', suddenly shes confessed to the crime.
obviously it helps that shes hot, and i would think that hot people could never kill anyone. but it also doesnt hurt that she was pretty much a model child growing up. How you go from that, to going to europe to study abroad, to killing your roommate for not participating in a threesome with you and your new boyfriend is beyond me -
Well, by nature I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt until I get burnt and then I start accusing. With Amanda Knox's trial, from what I can tell, appears to be a case of guilty until proven innocent. Seems like there is a lot of heresay or what have you that is being taken into consideration here. Foreign country > American girl.
With Casey Anthony, I myself believe there is something funny to the story and that she is somehow involved directly or indirectly. Whomever is responsible for disposing of the body/evidence has done a pretty good job up to this point as there doesn't seem to be anything conclusive other than Casey lied to authorites on several occassions. And what the hell is with all the fighting between the public to get inside the courtroom? -
Bump:
Verdict coming soon... -
Man my heart is beating for her, I can only imagine how she feels
-
Would love to be the first to smash that once she is free.
