America is waking up. You have until next november to hand out all the lollipops you can. No time to read it, just pass it before it is too late! I hope a guy like this can come along more than once in a lifetime.

is this a bad thing? should we not be concerned about long-term policy? it's far easier for me to look back now and go, "wow, this war on drugs thing blows" than it would be to do so in the 80s.

Im not saying it is a bad thing. But the "war on drugs" was just different back then. There was very little backlash as there is today. It was new, they didnt know it wouldn't work, like the past several presidents did. Tons of things have changed in the 20 years since he was last president. Im not even saying you cant disagree about some policies. What he was though was a great leader. He is still in just about every top 10 list of Presidents, and usually the most current. Which means he did actually did cross political lines. I might still be a conservative or republican instead of Libertarian if they were more like him.

you're either the most naive person ever, or mentally retarded if you think or ever thought a war on drugs would work. there's NO. FUCKING. WAY. to win a war on drugs, and there NEVER. WAS. ANY. FUCKING. WAY. anyone who is naive enough to believe regan or anyone could win a war on drugs is... well, i already told you that one. i wouldn't have repeated myself if i wasn't so high.

Um, I did say "THEY didnt know it wouldnt work". Are you trying to tell me they fully knew they couldnt win a war on drugs and spent billions trying? Whats worse Reagan trying this (whether you believe it was right or not) or Bush, Clinton, Bush continuing to spend fully knowing it wouldn't work? As I have stated since college I have pretty much gone Libertarian, so obv I agree it wont work, so stop spending the f'ing money and let people have their freedom to do as they wish.

I think you also misunderstood what I meant by "it was different back then." I was talking more in the area of acceptance of legalization of drugs. Look at this graph and tell me it wasnt different back then. It was near 70/30 illegal vs legal. Now its practically 60/40. Yes I think I can say peoples view on drugs and the War on Drugs was different back then. I believe weren't both of you guys like 2 and 3 in the mid 80's?
by Joseph Carroll, Gallup Poll Assistant Editor
Since the late 1960s, Gallup has periodically asked Americans whether the use of marijuana should be made legal in the United States. Although a majority of Americans have consistently opposed the idea of legalizing marijuana, public support has slowly increased over the years. In 1969, just 12% of Americans supported making marijuana legal, but by 1977, roughly one in four endorsed it. Support edged up to 31% in 2000, and now, about a third of Americans say marijuana should be legal.

Smoke to your hearts content, it means nothing to me. :) -
you can def win a war on drugs we are just too pussy to do it. blow up all the cartels houses same way we hunt terrorists with a predator and some hellfires. send in spec ops teams to blow up labs overseas and kill all inside. shoot down every plane coming in that has drugs on it. close and mine the boarders ( second benefit stop ill aliens) on the spot execution of drug dealers caught on the street selling ( used some overseas currently) make it known if drugs are your business you die no trial no bullshit if you are caught red handed thats it. if you make the price high enough ppl will stop dealing.

worked pretty good under marcos in the 80s. drug use dropped severely once he started executing ppl.
-
i see what your saying here, but i really don't think it would work. This ^^ would skyrocket the price of drugs. And there would still be plenty of people out there looking to cash in. The larger the penalties become, the higher drug prices become. At the same time your filling jails with tons of non violent criminals, which we def. can't afford. Decriminalizing is prob. the most +ev solution.

IMO the goverment should make oxycontin extinct. They make perc. 15's and 30's now, lol @ the whole country having to high of a tolerance for 5's or 10's to work anymore. Pain killers are absolutely destroying our country. So many people addicted to these things, and willing to do ANYTHING to get high... -
Not saying it doesn't work, but we don't fight real wars properly cause of "rules" doubt we are going to blow up houses in various countries because they make drugs. Well, this is complex but the original quote was lol funny yeah bomb everything concept.
-
Oxycontin serves a purpose to people in extreme cases. It's not fair to take those meds away because some people like to abuse them. Purdue Pharma is already developing a version that would prevent people from bypassing the extended release action of the drug. Other drugs like Meth, Coke, and Heroin obv serve no medical purpose.

government power: it's okay when we do it!
