Bruce Lee is essentially the godfather of MMA as jeetkunedo, or at least the idea of it, pretty much is the foundation.

"Using no way as way, having no limitation as limitation" - Bruce Lee
Anderson Silva has finished people in MMA via punches, kicks, knees, flying knees, reverse backward elbow, jabs ffs, front kicks, triangle chokes and rear naked chokes. It's safe to say he's one of the most diverse fighters ever.
Currently his credentials are:
Black belt in Brazillian Jiu-jitsu
Black belt in Judo
Black belt in Taekwondo
Black belt in Muay Thai
Yellow rope in Capoeira (he's almost without a doubt the only elite fighter who gives this discipline the time of day)
"The mind has to be like a parachute: Always opened" - Anderson Silva
His latest martial arts venture? Huka Huka with Camaiura natives.

[x] Naked mans ass -
Silva is the GOAT of MMA but Bruce Lee invented his own Martial Art...
-
Dont let Chael hear you say that
-
I mean it in like this analagous sense:
Bruce Lee ignored the notion that one martial art was better than another or this was one was better than that one and so on and just incorporated stuff from each one that worked for him.
Anderson Silva ignores the notion that you have to have boxing, wrestling, and bjj and nothing else in modern mma and does all types of crazy shit that literally no one else is doing....and he's 14-0 in the UFC.
So kind of a loose comparison, obv there is only one bruce lee but hopefully at least one person will get what I'm sayin. -
Please, if that wanna be WWE superstar thinks he could last more than 1 round with 150 lbs of twisted American steel he's got a better chance of getting a free bj in Brazil

yeah pretty much he is, I mean isn't jeet kune do mixed martial arts by definition?
-
He is Bruce Lee!
For all the MMA fans
-
After the clarification, I agree with the OP. Anderson is unbelievable.
I really want to see him fight Jon Jones. Does anyone think there's any chance of this happening? -
can't wait for the sonner match. gonna be fun either way, something epic will happen.
-
I don't see it happening. He is 36 years old. I think if it would happen he would be the underdog though.
-
what proof do we have that bruce lee was such a great fighter? i know thats not really what you're talking about here. seems to be more about philosophy. but you here all the legends about bruce lee and we all act like he was some martial arts god. but did he ever like win anything? the stuff i read kind of seems like bullshit or not even that big of a deal really. Im sure he was a bad ass but its almost like we see him as some godlike figure.
-
Bruce Lee was a pussy
-
there have been many Bruce Lees, even before Bruce Lee. while he was physically awesome, and awakened to the deeper principles of martial art, his message is one repeated throughout the history of martial art. he was simply the first to reach a global audience, and that is owed to either the Gods or Probability.
add that to his "fuck you racist hollywood bastards" attitude that stole the hearts of the people, homages in street fighter, tekken, mortal kombat, king of fighters, soul caliber, and just about every movie that had any sort of martial art in it from his death onward, and you have the one to which all others are compared.
as for Silva and Jones, yea, they da shit. at a time when even "MMA" has become a pattern-based style, they choose a path of continuous evolution(the true meaning of JKD). pretty dope imo.
