  1. Everyone's saying he's a franchise QB, etc...Carolina will probably run to the podium and get 'em. Assuming he does come out, is he the best QB to enter draft since Peyton?

  2. I understand he's great but the hype surrounding this kid is ridiculous. If Jake didn't revert to a d3 qb this year he'd be the number 1 pick.
  3. He has everything you could possibly want from a qb draft candidate. Smart, disciplined, pro style offense in college, don't hear anything bad stories about the guy and he's got an arm. He is definitely a game changer. I can't wait to see what he does in the nfl. Everything is certainly pointing to him being a special player.

    Doubtful

Not to mention you won't find a single pro scout who doesn't think hes the stone nuts.

  5. No.
  6. they are hyping a qb every year around this time. not sure why this year is any different. last year it was bradford, mccoy, clause, tebow. years before that matt stafford, vince young. dude everyone last year was talking how claussen could be the #1 pick. QB's are always hyped up like Luck is being this year.
  7. Alot of QB's in college are great and dont pan out in the NFL. Hopefully Luck isnt one of those.

  8. he is awesome and plays in a pro-style offense.

    he is a machine.
  9. Something about this kid just tells me he is gonna make a great pro, can't really pin it. The throw he made when he was getting dragged down running to his right was pretty freakin insane. No other college QB makes that throw playing this year.

  12. Of course every year there are multiple quarterbacks hyped by the media. They need something to shit their pants about to sell the draft every year, but he isn't just some athletic SEC kid who can run all over eveyone and just has a team that is flat out better. He has every skill and every background that proves to produce successful qbs.
  13. All I've really heard about this kid is he's a no doubter franchise QB...Kiper said he will be one of his highest grades ever. Read a quote from a scout a month ago he's the best QB he's ever evaluated. I honestly don't remember hearing this much excitement about a QB in the last few years...and we've had Bradford, Stafford, Ryan, and more. Or maybe I just have a terrible memory :-p

    ..............GTFO
  17. ive never heard or read so much about a qbs prospects in awhile, you really have to believe hes going to pan out. alot of other guys you hear about their athleticism or body size, speed etc.. those things can be neutralized easy in the nfl as everyone has those intagibles. all you hear about luck is his mechanics though and he plays and excels in the pro style offense.
  18. the words they are using to describe Luck they use every year to describe whoever the top qb is in the draft that year. some of you are going yeah they do that every year but luck is different. not really. you just have a bad memory cause they do this same shit every year

  19. Did you see some of the throws this guy made tonight? Especially the scramble in the 3rd where he threw off his back foot and hit a guy in perfect stride to go for a 50+ yard touchdown... Im a USC homer to the fullest and this kid is making Barkley look pretty mediocre right about now.
  20. Could that be cuz barkley is mediocre?

With all this hype wherever luck goes to better go atleast 7-9 ala sam bradford.(I gave hime a break not having to make the playoffs like ryan or flacco)

  21. yeah everyone is like is he the best since peyton came in the league but its like damn i guess bradfrod who was just drafted last year and looks pretty good is just shit. or matt ryan. or a number of other qbs who have come in the league. OPs question is just such a homer thing to say. Like to be as good as bradford was this year would be an accomplishment in itself. but in like OP's head Luck is already beyond that. Just skip all those dudes and start making Manning comparisons.
  22. the niners or raiders will win the SB next yr if either get luck
  23. Here is the news when Peyton was coming out. Some people even thought Leaf was going, or could be better. All QB's that are gonna get drafted high get mad hype.

Tennessee's Peyton Manning and Washington State's Ryan Leaf have a chance to change that. They will go 1-2, or 2-1, in the April 18 draft to the Colts and Chargers, two bad teams.

So who is better? Manning vs. Leaf is the hot debate of this year's draft.

In the last three weeks, the Daily News polled a coach, GM or personnel director from 25 teams. The question: If you had the first pick, would you take Manning or Leaf? An overwhelming 20 said they would take Manning, three went for Leaf and two declined to give an opinion.

"If there is a more impressive guy in the country than Peyton Manning, I would be shocked," Bucs coach Tony Dungy said.
Bills GM John Butler would take Leaf. "He takes some hits and can buy extra time with his exceptional strength," he said. "He can look off people and get it done. You like the big, strong guys. It's a tough game where you take a lot of punishment."

Some of those picking Manning said they were just more familiar with him than Leaf. The bottom line: Manning may be the best-prepared quarterback to ever come into the NFL. He absorbed football through his father, Archie, and has a coach's understanding of the game. He's the safe pick with big-game experience and has a better chance to have success right away than Leaf.

Leaf is more physically imposing with a better arm; he's unshakable in the pocket, an aggressive, confident player who may have more long-term upside than Manning. Both, though, could be starters as rookies.

This is from another article at the time.

Leaf, leaving Washington State with a year of eligibility remaining, is more raw, although his numbers last season, except for completion percentage, were a match for Manning: 210 of 375 (56 percent) for 3,637 yards, 33 touchdowns, 10 interceptions. Leaf is believed to have great potential, though, and more physical strength than Manning.

A Cliff's Notes scouting report would show Manning with intangibles, technique and understanding of the game but without a great arm. Leaf has arm strength and size and might have more upside potential. In other words, Manning fits the Joe Montana mold, Leaf the Terry Bradshaw mold. And, of course, it's a long way from here to there.

In a poll by a New York newspaper at the league meeting last month, 14 of 20 coaches and executives said they would prefer Leaf over Manning, mos

kinda unfair to say this, there are a shit ton of factors that go into what your record is. Not to mention it's a lot easier to go 7-9 in the NFC west than the NFC south . You got something against the kid lol? I personally think he's a better prospect than Bradford and will likely be a top QB in the nfl. Is he better prospect than Peyton Manning? I don't remember, but doubt he'll be a better QB than one of the 5 best of all time... but it's not completely out of the question.

Also those Leaf and Manning articles are sort of pointless considering there is no prospect like Leaf that matches up with Luck. Luck is unanimously considered the better prospect, although missouris QB (forgot name) is getting some top 5 hype as well.

Don't worry, Barkley will revert to Jesus status next season.

unfortunately Raiders do not have a 1st round pick.

    traded to Pats for Seymour.
  27. whoever mcshay backs, go the opposite
  28. didnt bradford have like an out of this world pro day last year? remember it wasnt even a sure thing st louis was gonna go with him a #1. Then he had that huge pro day where people like mel kiper were saying he basically had a perfect workout and how it was one of the most impressive pro days for a qb like ever. does everyone just forget this?

Yeah, i was just using them to show that QB's, every year get hype and just showing a failed example of how much hype some guys get. Not the Manning part but that there was serious disscussion from people that leaf might be better than Manning, long term. mind bottling.

  30. This has nothing to do with Luck but could harbaugh make it any more obvious he already has another job? I bet within the next two days he is either denver or the 49ers new cosch. its obviously already happened. im just not sure which one it is
