There's the B.S. Report that Simmons did with Dilfer around the Super Bowl. It's fantastic. I love the insight Dilfer gives in regard to the Ravens Super Bowl team. -
loooool those are all facts? I see 1 statement that can be called a "fact." And that's statement #2.

You can prove to me that the QB is 100% the leader of every football team? Impressive if you can, and I'd like to see the stats/proof to back it up.
I'd love to see a poll of Dilfer's co-workers if you ask who or what led the Ravens to the 2000 title...FACT: The answer wouldn't be Trent Dilfer. -
Can't have it both ways. Can't say the Ravens defense wouldn't have accomplished what they did due to new rules while comparing Dilfer's numbers then with Sanchez's numbers in the 2010 playoffs. Plus, the Ravens allowed 23 combined points in their four playoff games. Dilfer was never tested, although I love his account of the Super Bowl.

FYI, Sanchez threw for as many yards in 3 games in his rookie postseason as Dilfer did in his 4 games in 2000. He had a 92.2 rating in the 2009 playoffs. And he threw for more yards in his 3 games in 2010 than Dilfer did in his 4 in 2000. He had a 95.5 rating in the 2010 playoffs...soooooooooo -
I'm sure I've read it in the past, so I'm not going to now.

But there's no way that you can tell me that the 2000 Ravens D would have the same effect with today's league...there have been SOOO many rule changes that would have hurt their ability to beatdown an opposing offense.
Don't get me wrong...they'd still be very good. Probably still the best in the league...but teams would score on them, and Dilfer's 100 passing yards wouldn't be enough to win playoff games in today's NFL. -
It probably wouldn't be any one player, which is true of every team to ever get to the Super Bowl. It doesn't chage the fact that by default, everyone considers the quarterback the "on field" leader of the team, the "field general". Ask any sports analyst what one player is the leader of a football team and he will immediately answer QB.

I'm not having it both ways...I'm telling you that Mark Sanchez hasn't been the LOL_QB that you were making him out to be in the first post addressing it.

In fact, he's been pretty damn good in his first 2 postseasons. -
Listen to the podcast. It's a great listen. According to Dilfer, Tony Siragusa was actually the leader of the team (IIRC). Who woulda thunk it?

However, for the 2000 Ravens, Ray Lewis was the "field general" for the defense, which was 100x more important than Trent Dilfer.
Any more facts you'd like to post...that aren't facts at all?
I wouldn't have...and I'd still bet that Ray Lewis' emotion and intensity (and talent) were much more important for that Ravens team than anything a QB or OL could do.Originally Posted by marinersheep

But maybe he's right...either way, Dyz is waaaaay off.
EDIT--why aren't you on AIM...I'd rather talk there to bypass the other drivel. nawmsayn -
Not sure how you're not having it both ways when you continue to assume 100 passing yards for Dilfer...
-
But the guys you use to compare him to...Cassel and Sanchez...have never been to a Super Bowl. So what exactly is the comparison?

Trent Dilfer had a career QB rating of 70.2...and threw 16 more INTs than TDs. Yes...maybe the defenses he played against used to get away with rape. But, he just wasn't good. -
I wonder who is going to get him in the draft, I don't think it will be the seahawks.
-
Seattle Seahawks will be terrible this year i think
They will get Luck. Harbough immediately starts bargaining for a trade to get rid of one of their terrible QBs and a stud for Luck. -
Seahawks have all the Luck locked up
-
I really hope Luck stays in college for another year...
-
I obv want Luck to come to the 49ers because of Harbaugh. So i told myself I would wait till after week 1and before rooting for them to be horrible.

Looks like they have a shot to win this crappy division. If they lost to Seattle at home, i would have neen on the "suck for luck" bandwagon.
But watching my team have a chance to get to the playoff will be much more fun then hoping Luck will be good in the pros. Or maybe Harbaugh does somethibg crazy next year and jumps up in the draft to get him.
Hey... a fan can dream. -
In 2008 he was. 80 passer rating is pretty average.
-
lol.

look beyond an outdated number that they don't even use anymore.
If you disagree one more time I will have to rant.
I skipped first 2 pages, perhaps I'll have to give them a gander. -
I was just trying to expound on your point that you need a stud passing QB to win a Super Bowl nowadays...and it turned into a bunch of crap (I'll admit...some from me) about Trent Dilfer and the 2000 Ravens.
-
but guys...will tony romo ever win a ring???

2 Sep 18 KC 3 @ DET 48
3 Sep 25 KC @ SD loss
4 Oct 02 MIN @ KC maybe?
5 Oct 09 KC @ IND maybe? but im betting collins will start getting a handle by here and be a loss after weeks 3 and 4 collins starts doing decent, not great just good, but good will be enough to beat us

kc vs ind for the suck for luck winner? -
apologies...the chiefs do in fact suck balls, i'd root for the suck for luck campaign.
-
hmm...
vs. DEN & @ DEN...about the only chances I see.
I mean it is the NFL, so I'm sure they'll win a game or two I don't expect, but that's a brutally tough schedule. -
Weiss gone- check
Moeaki out for the year- check
Berry out for the year- check
Charles out for the year- check
Worst OC in the history of football- check
Two blowout losses in 2 of the more winnable games on our schedule- check
In two games: 10 points and 9 TURNOVERS!!!- check
We got really lucky last year in avoiding injuries and utilizing charger meltdowns and a favorable schedule to the division crown. I've been Cassel's biggest supporter, but he is going to get exposed badly all year now that JC is out of the picture, and has the last 2 weeks. Next week is going to be beyond brutal in SD against a pissed off team.
The good news: Luck or Barkley are probably coming to KC and we locked up Brandon Flowers for 5 years, so we can use the franchise tag on Bowe next year. Ohh and Jonathan Baldwin: please stop being a primadonna pussy and start earning that fucking paycheck!
