I'm curious how we know this is actually people within anonymous with skills as opposed to some random dude on the internet stirring things up.

It would be quite funny if it was just some random dude making shit up and getting nerds to do the dirt for him.

A week after the Megaupload shit, they said they were taking down Bank of America, Chase, Facebook, Twitter, etc. if Megaupload wasn't reinstated. It wasn't, and they didn't do shit.

    Doubt this happens.

  12. This definitely won't happen.

Could you imagine the amount of fraud if we still used those slide thingys. People would just go around with pre paid cards that didnt have any cash on them and charge shit all day long. Those would never work in todays world.

Funny thing is I saw the cafeteria at sea world using those things after their computers crashed just last year. I wonder how that turned out.

  19. Manual security on CC's are basically comparing names on cards to other ID's they have and (gulp) racial profiling. If the name didn't match the person (i.e. a black person named Kowalski or a white person named Rodriquez).

  20. anyone checked anonops or any of their twitter feeds to verify if this is a sanctioned op?
  21. I was linked to this from @AnonNews on twitter

  22. welp, its on then. who knows if they can actually do it, if you read the pastebin they are not actually trying to bring down the whole internet, just disabledomain look ups, meaning no browser access to websites. still seesm pretty difficult, anyone know anything about those 13 "root" dns servers?

an alternate theory would be, given Anon's affinity for disinformation, perhaps they announced this to take attention away from their real target(s), if they are planning ddos attacks on a specific organization(s), and don't want their target(s) to be prepared.
  23. @YourAnonNews is the feed actually but I follow most the anon stuff on twitter so I could be wrong

Im trying to go back through and find the original tweet.

  24. In the past, the attacks they announce publicly ahead of time seem to be way less effective than the ones we hear about after the fact. That combined with the disinformation thing, who knows? One thing is for sure though, they are capable of some crazy shit, so if they pulled this off I wouldn't be surprised.
  25. they better not fuck with twitter

  27. If what they say in the release is true then I would say its possible. Maybe this is a trick by the authorities trying to locate Anon members. The thing about it is that Anon could be x amount of people one day and y amount of people another day. This particular press release gives step by step detail on how to help participate in the activities. Basically begging for disgruntled people that normally wouldnt do anything like this to jump in. Wonder if this is legit or a trap.

Seems a lousy trap since they will just reel in the low hanging fruit. Same thing happened with the first paypal ddos, they sent out instructions to everyone on how to use an LOIC and all the /b/ tards were following the instructions without using any proxies or anything. That led to a bunch of arrests of so-called Anons who were really just retarded kids trying to be cool and had no clue wtf they were doing.

Doesn't seem likely the gubment would set up a trap like this as they wouldnt be able to catch the people who know how to cover their tracks anyway.
