"A Houston man on trial for fatally shooting his neighbor says he was acting in self defense and his home video can prove it. Raul Rodriguez, a former firefighter, was recording his argument with neighbors, when he shot and killed Kelly Danaher, an elementary school teacher, and wounded two other people in May 2010. The 22-minute homemade video is the key to the trial, but what's on the video might be in the eye of the beholder."

Lol video taping this for sure got himself a sentence. The fucker walked onto their property with a gun, kill this man.
WTF. -
stand their ground
-
jail bound
-
if he thought his life was threatened then he can kill, kill, kill at will, backing down is un-american and very much pussy.
hurry and go out and gitcha kill on before it's too late ya'll. -
texas doesnt have stand your ground. they have castle doctrine.
and even if it did, i doubt it would cover going onto your neighbors property and confronting him, and then killing him
this dude is going to prison for life. -
Lol Texas. Why would you do shit like this when you have six kids? Enjoy seeing them through glass.
-
Lol "officer i am 'standing my ground' in 'self-defense' as i am 'afraid for my life!'"

Nice try bro. Gg
"He's coming right for me!"
Cue vid of guy on train tracks yelling "nooooooooooo" for 5 minutes until train hits him
Edit: altho, the other guy going to get his gun is lol. Does this fall under mutual duel consent? -
i was amazed when i first moved out here how adamant guys were about their guns and using them to defend themselves and their property. many said they would shoot a guy simply for reaching into their truck to steal something. no warning yell...no warning shot...no shot to the leg...straight kill shot. ummm...wow!

that being said, i think i'm going shooting saturday lol -
If events took place the way that the shooter said then the stand your ground law had no affect. Without "stand your ground" a shooter has to prove that he couldn't escape danger. Zimmerman said the kid had attacked him and was on top punching him. Even without stand your ground he would have been in the "right" to defend himself if events happened as he said they did. -
Fucking muderer period. Using buzzwords from a class he took to icarry a concealed weapon will only seal this idiots fate.

Isn't "Stand Your Ground" in regards to using lethal force? Everyone has the right to defend themselves but using lethal force isn't always necessary.

"Stand your ground" is the use of lethal force against an attacker even if you have a route of escape. Without the "stand your ground" law you have to prove you had no way to escape in order to justify the use of deadly force. -
This incident took place in Texas not Florida. If stand your ground was applicable here under the Florida there would not be a trial. This looks like a simple case of some type of murder with a weak self defense argument. I see few similarities except for the guys with the gun in both cases appear to be white Hispanics.

It's getting out of control. People around here will shoot and kill a kid who is trying to steal their car while it's parked in the driveway at night.
I mean car thieves suck but you can't just blow them away. -

Why not? I'm not going to feel sorry for some punk for getting his ass shot while committing grand larceny. -
Because human life > your car
-
Tell that to the guy who is in danger of losing his life for my car. -
I'd rather tell it to the vigilante dickhead who thinks stealing his car should be a capital offense
-
so you can walk up to someone point a gun at them and if they dont give into your demands and act kindly you can shoot them?
