  1. Going on my first golf trip w/ 3 other dudes in March when one of them turns 30. Where should we go that's semi-cheap in the U.S.?

  2. Not many golf destinations are going to be cheap in March as that is gonna be peak season for places like AZ and FL. Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail i've heard is some of the best golf for your money tho.

  3. Kiawah Island. play the Ocean Course, I've heard its affordable and extremely easy.
  4. RTJ Trail in 'Bama.

South Carolina but not much else to do. Phoenix/Scottsdale is a can't miss. Tons to do and even the ugly chicks are hot!

Came here to post this. Can mods merge all golf destination trips and then we can have reports from ppl who go there? Might be helpful

He said cheap. That golf trip is one of the most expensive I've ever taken

  9. San Diego is pretty awesome. There's a ton of great courses down there for all ranges of rates. I freaking love going to Sycuan which is reasonably priced, has 36 holes, and a casino right next to it. There are tons of great courses closer to the beach, and you cannot beat the Gaslamp District. Awesome nightlife.
  10. hmmm, my SC trip was cheap.
  11. you can play Myrtle Beach pretty cheaply in March but you're rolling the dice on what kind of weather - it could be great or it could be real shitty - i've been there in March when we had frost delays every morning, and i've also been there when it was 70 every day
  12. Scotland was only 4k for a week, and 4 rounds. Don't be a pussy make it memorable.
  13. RTJ is some hard golf. Better be able to sky long irons as all the greens are raised and they have some funky grass that takes away landing the ball short and running it on the green. The starters all describe the grass as velcro. Fits the bill as warm and not to pricey tho.

As Sooners said, Arizona is really expensive. Over 1k a day with airfare/room/food/drink and golf. Not to sound to faggy but who cares about women on a golf trip? Get some strange at home.

As Sax said, Myrtle is iffy on weather. I was there in April and played in mittens.

For the seasoned guys who have been there and done that.

Neither of those links has the sex appeal as others but have great golf at really affordable prices.
  14. North Carolina, tons of courses. go to southern pines area, play tobacco road at least one of the days you're there

  18. ALL of these are good suggestions.... However, I would tell you to look at going to Austin, Texas

    Barton Creek Resort ..... www.bartoncreek.com

PLUS.... Dont know your dates, but, South by Southwest Music Festival is in March and could make for a crazy getaway

  19. A few years ago a group of friends and I did a golf trip using the Big Fore package in northen Michigan. Black Lake was by far the best course we played as part of the package so if you do that trip double up on Black Lake for sure.

We are currently planning another trip in late September to go either back to Black lake and courses in that area but are also considering Treetops Resort in Michigan. Does anybody have any experience playing/staying there?

  20. Bandon Dunes, OR for sure! Just spent a week there, very good service & afforable!

I played on the golf team at college and we did a spring break golf trip every year and my sophomore year an alumni offered to put us up in his Barton Creek timeshare and have us for the week. We stayed in two mansions between the 8 of us. Played a 2 day tourney the first 2 days then spent the next 5 playing different Barton Creek courses.

It was easily a top 3 week of my life. Just a beautiful area and amazing courses - all of them. When I'm rich I plan on heading back down to play all those tracks again.

Holy shit please nerds make a time machine quick I need to redo that week

What lodging option did you choose?

Are the courses all walking distance from where you stayed?

What did you pay, was it unlimited golf?

In what order would you rank the courses? Are any not worth playing?

    Thanks

Are the courses all walking distance from where you stayed? None of the courses are within walking distance. 3 are at one site, 10 minutes, from the lodge and one is a 2 minute drive down the hill. The only thing within walking distance is a lodge bar, the checkin and hotel, and the pool.

What did you pay, was it unlimited golf? We played 18 fri/sat/sun and got out for a replay on fridays course for $30 more. Not sure if there are unlimited golf options. I think there is a special for 1 night and 2 rounds for 99 or something floating around right now.

In what order would you rank the courses? Are any not worth playing? Very tough to say. 1 is probably flatter and less interesting but it is still fun and everyone normally shoots a little better there. I can look up which one this is later but it has to be the cheapest rate wise I would think. Its a 5 minute cart ride from the site that house 3 courses, 2 go out from the clubhouse plus this one.

    Thanks

Golf was good, greens are soft but fast and tricky. Don't expect much in terms of partying normally but actually this year the bar had live music and a bunch of 40+ women if that is your thing. And lets be honest, it's a golf trip, who wouldn't go for a 40+ just for the story on the first tee next day.
  25. Thanks for the info!

  26. Happy to help, if any more questions come up just shoot. I've been going up there for 5-6 years.
