Just started to learn Sudoku while bored in vegas and got the iphone app for it (which is awesome btw). Found mediums to be too easy so moved up to hard but got stuck and am pretty tilted that i cant figure out the next move without guessing.
I've tried researching different strategies but can't seem to apply and of the normal ones to this and alot of the harder strategies are hurting my head at the moment.
If anyone wants to take a look and tell me not just what the next move is but why I'd much appreciate it.

Yes I've been looking at it for over 4 hours usually while grinding live tho between hands.
Also whats great about the app is you can select a number like 1 here and see all the possible 1's light up
thx for the help -
I have no idea how to play this game. I'm just surprised your battery lasts that long on an iphone.

I'm not seeing anything right now. Try looking away for a bit or work on a different one. Puzzles sometimes take a few days to finish.

I have no fucking clue what's goin on in op

the pixels are set too large for me to see the whole square

The correct way to do Sudoku is kind of like chess -- pretend you make a move, then look several moves into the future and see if it works out.
If you give me a little while I can help you out with this. I'll post my thoughts ITT in a bit. -
9 over 5 down is 9
Edited By: dnb128 Jul 6th, 2011 at 10:58 PM
because 4 over 5 down, and 6 over 5 down can only be 1 or 7. meaning 9 over 5 down cannot be 1, only leaving 9. this will lead you to a few other answers pretty easy.
top right is 7 -
I've looked at it for a few minutes and can't see anything, I;m usually pretty good at them. I'll keep looking a little more...
-
wait, what the hell is going on with the 1's? if you've originally learned the game through doing them by hand on paper, these online versions and staring at screens become much more difficult

Love Sudoku, but then again I'm a nerd

HA, i figured it out. dave is mad at me now
dave was missing one little thing, and coudln't find it...he sucks, i rape...
in the middle box, the middle column has to be a 6 and a 9 in that column, so the 1 can't be in that column...so the 1 has to be in the top right of the right-middle box...rest of the puzzle falls into place after that...bam

thx tho guys gg -
In the middle box, in the middle line, there are only two possible numbers: 1 and 7, thus removing the 1 from being possible in any other squares in that box. Therefore in the middle column, that leaves only 6 and 9.
Then you can remove 1 as a possibility from the 6th box (counting from left to right, top to bottom) thus leaving that the only remaining possibility for that square being 9.
You can then deduce the rest of the puzzle with relative ease. -
The right side middle is solvable

glad I read before responding with this exact post. Always look for numbers that are only possible in one two places (like the 1 and the 7 HAVE to be in the middl row middle box) then eliminate them elsewhere.

Middle "square", bottom row - the "4" goes in the middle. You are welcome.
