    The Illinois Lotto has been advertising the hell out of this. I don't know if I could give them out. It's like saying "there's an 80% chance I got you nothing". And besides that I think I'd actually be pissed if I gave someone a $20 ticket and they won a million.
    Anybody ever get a ticket as a gift and then win?

    I give them every year. But I just attach one to the actual present I'm giving.

    My wife loves scratch off tickets. It's the only form of gambling she likes. lol

    My mother-in-law buys them for me every year. I think it's a great gift but i'm a degen.

    well she does like slot machines but she's afraid to lose money. she gambled away $100 once in like 20 mins and kept talking about how she can't believe she lost $100 so fast all day long. lol.

    lol Oklahoma has a similar ad campaign and I pretty much had the same initial thoughts as the OP........ just seems kinda seedy

    I get them every year. I have yet to win, but I still like doing it.

    I actually just picked up some on the way home to give out. Its just one more thing you get to do while drinking and chilling with the fam. Who cares if you win.

    A couple years agao my brother got one of those "fake" lottery scratch offs for my mom...... The look she gave when she scratched it off was priceless! She was not as happy when she figured out what was happening, lol!

    I like the " attach it to a present " idea. Maybe I'll give one to the wife, that way I at least get half when she wins and trades up.

    One of my half relatives always does this. I think she just does it because she hates us because she has plenty of money. It's more of an insult than a gift. FTR, I don't expect gifts from anyone, but going out of your way to buy someone a $1 scratch off ticket when you know they don't like you is insulting.

    we do a $25 grab bag at my grandparents house, and last year my brother got 25 bucks worth of lottery tickets and ended up winning 60 bucks, not a bad roi id say

    I had five of them in my stocking this morning. All the small gifts I got my girlfriend will be in a bag and the good ones will be wrapped, so I plan on throwing a few scratch tickets in the bag of small stuff as well.
