Playing the fry's open this week and its an adventure to say the least. shot a 73 yesterday while barely hitting any fairways and losing a ball at one point. was dialed in today getting it to 1 under for the tournament with 3 straight birdies before shit hit the fan again including another lost ball off the tee, and the followed it up with a snap hook drive into the rough that only went 160 yards! took another bogey, before getting one back at the next hole. he's now had E par and barring a big fuck up, will probably make the cut
his irons are dialed in, and his putting seems way better than its been recently, but his driving is an epic disaster.
golf channel if you wanna watch
tiger shoots 68 while making what seemed like 3 or 4 fairways all day. don't know the official numbers -
Hitting only 50% of greens in regulation yesterday is hardly "dailed in". He improved today on his iron play but lets face it, Frys.com Open? lol One of the weakest fields of the year for a PGA Tour event.
Tied for 125th in driving accuracy and he is only averaging 263 yards off the tee is pathetic! His putts per green in regulation is what helped him make the cut to play this weekend.
He keeps talking about "its almost there" or "me and Sean have been working on blah blah blah" that he sounds like a broken record.
I can see why he picked this tournament to play in. Weak field so it gave him a better chance to make the cut versus a normal "tougher" field and his chances of making the cut arent so good.
When he goes to Australia to play in an event that will have a lot of the Pres. Cup team members from both sides, then we can gauge how good he is playing but in this event, with his stats, weak sauce shit! -
Fuck tiger
-
COME ON TIGER.... Watching him play now puts me on tilt...
-
the greens in reg isnt accurate because he's been hitting drives 40 yards offline into the rough and having to lay up. when he has a realistic shot at the green, he's been hitting really good iron shots. no crazy hooks, or pushes. his driving average is also fucked by the fact that he's hitting bloopers, and hooks like weekend warriors off the tee. his actual distance when he hits it properly is fine. the fact he picked the frys has nothing to do with the field, but rather the timing. he wanted to get out there and play before the australian open and see where he's at. its not like he was waiting around for a shitty field so he could go out there and win with a score of -2
yeah, its not the masters, but theres rarely such thing as a 'weak field' these days with guys like paul casey, kevin na, ernie els, trevor immelman, rory sabbatini, patrick cantlay all in the field. its not about if he wins vs a particular field right now, its about hitting shots. and from watching both round 1 and 2, i'd say his iron play is on target right now, his putting has shown signs of swagger, but his driving has been comical at best. the fact he shot 68 today is a damn near miracle, and most other guys in the field would probably shoot 78 if they drove it off the tee as bad as tiger did today. -
Pretty sure dd is not avg of every drive
-
They generally use fair holes. Not ones that have huge elevation changes, sharp dog legs or Par 3's. Generally long straight holes.
I found this. I guess its just 2 holes, i was under the impression it was a couple perside.
The average number of yards per measured drive. These drives are measured on two holes per round. Care is taken to select two holes which face in opposite directions to counteract the effect of wind. Drives are measured to the point at which they come to rest regardless of whether they are in the fairway or not.

Only reason I said pretty sure is because gc may have their own stat for this week that he saw
-
thread title should be: Anybody watching Patrick Cantlay?
-
He's had a pretty incredible summer. I really hope he stays his remaining seasons at UCLA before turning pro. He has a shot to have one of the best amateur/college careers of all time.
-
LOL @ Tiger Woods. He wouldn't make a wart on a good golfer's ass. Disgrace, stupidity and self-loathing FTL.
-
Even when he was at his best he didn't really hit that many fairways
-
Not gonna get into a debate from an obvious Tiger nutswinger. Get back to me when you know wtf you are talking about.

CordeValle was one of our home courses at school, must've played it 40 or 50 times... glad to see it holding up pretty well to a respectable field (hey, I even tried to qualify and couldn't get in).
and Tiger needs to play more tournaments. gone are the days that he can pick and choose the best events and still play awesome each time out. -
Def not seeing any low numbers out there...

So are you playing as a pro now? Waiting for Q-school? I imagine the prelims are beginning soon, or have begun? -

also, im glad so many people actually answered the question as to whether or not they were watching the tournament. i guess im the only one that enjoys watching tiger hit rock bottom, and try to find his game. -
i only watch golf when tiger is doing well
-
Tiger is fucking useless.
side note: tiger and wesley snipes share the same nick name -
?

gooooooooooooooooooo

would love to see Ernie win this but he looks so uncomfortable with that putter ... sunday should be interesting
-
Zags you need a loop?
-
belly and long putters are clubs for lost souls imo. I hope Hadwin makes a run tomorrow, every time I've seen him play I've been blown away by his consistency in all areas of the game. It was a shame he didn't get a second of tv time until he went birdie, birdie, eagle to get to -9, esepcially since him and his playing partner both shot 64
