  1. I was lookin at this page and was once again in awe of the projects going on in Dubai. I really think that at some point in my life I want to go there.

Anyone ever been? Whats it like, do they speak english? is it expensive for Americans? Is it easy to get around and see all the shit thats there?
  2. I've never been but they host one hell of a day of world class horse racing in March called the Dubai Cup. The top horses from all over the world are there and the accomodations are immaculate. I've always been interested in going
  3. The history/discovery ch did specials on the indoor ski park and the "world" islands or whatever they call them. The shows were amazing, and the projects just plain incredible. I was never there, but would love to go there.... especially if I could go on a tour with some engineers and we could talk about dorky things.
  4. Fuckin sick! Fuck visiting, i want to move there
  5. i saw a really cool show on it recently, i think it was on discovery or the travel channel. try googling "tv shows about dubai", it tells you everything about how they are building stuff. very fascinating place. remember they are trying to be an oil free economy within 16 years (estimated oil left runs out then.) they are pumping billions into this and i wish them luck as probably the most progressive and pro tourism/foreign arab nation. basically they will be one big resort and shipping empire.

my mom went there 2 years ago and loved it. you will have no trouble finding people who speak english. i doubt its too hard to get around as alot of the new stuff is in one area. kickass waterpark there too btw.
  6. ok what you said as i was busy typing lol.
  7. "One of Dubai's recent groundbreaking plans is for a 30-story, 200 apartment skyscraper that will slowly rotate at its base, making a 360 degree revolution once a week. The world's first rotating skyscraper is to be in the center of the Dubailand complex and should be completed by 2009."

  8. I have a friend who just got back from Dubai and went on the ski slope, said Dubai was awesome, the wealth is out of control.

My dad was there years ago on business and said at one of the big malls they had some big promotion where every day for a month they would raffle off some huge prize like a car, and the final day they were raffling away a bar of solid gold.
  9. I love gold bar raffles, now i'm definetly going.

  10. that's amazing...i knew dubai was super wealthy and everything and about that one really tall hotel they already have...that's fucking crazy though

everything listed was described as being the largest on earth
  11. i read an article about the king/prince of dubai in my maxim magazine i bought in scotland.

The guy buys likes 45 rolls royce's every year and for his birthday gives every citizen of dubai a present. Last year it was a raise equivalent to like $2.00 american.

apparently the guy has blown about 40 % of his wealth over the last 20 years.

    i'd still love to go.
