On anti-anxiety/anti-depressants?
I stopped taking my Lexapro last week and now weird shit keeps happening to my body. Like weird electrical impulses running through my head and body. Anyone else have a similar experience? How long did it last?
Probably should of slowly weened myself off. -
definitely not recommended/advisable..... the one time I forgot my zoloft when i was outta town, I started feeling weird, especially in the late afternoon, after like 2-3 days of not taking it. Holla at your shrink for sure
-
definitely need to be tapered off. what strength were you on? 10mg?
-
I used to take a lot of anti depressant. None of the ones I tried ever made me feel all that much better, so I switched around a lot. Late this winter I decided to stop taking them cold turkey without the approval of my doctor. It was not that bad and I never really noticed many true side affects, but that may be because I rarely stayed with one drug for long enough to feel dependent on it.
-
go to a doctor. he'll suggest a tapering plan
-
No way man. I'm done with pills (except my caduet). I don't think the Lexapro really actually worked for me. I was getting into fits of rage and the only thing I could contribute to it was that.

Actually, the 20 mg. -
Going cold turkey is clutch when you have a little pepper. Maybe some bread and miracle whip. Only thing you can eat for a week without regrets.
-
I weened myself off mine. Cold turkey is a sketchy play. All the best.

When I was super depressed back like 4 years ago I tried Lexapro for a few weeks, that shit was terrible and didn't help me for shit, I just stopped taking it. Obviously I wasn't on it long enough to really feel any side effects of coming off of it.

if you still have the tablets on you, take a half tablet (10mg) once a day for 2 weeks. then take a quarter tablet (5mg) for 2 weeks. the effects should subside once you start taking it again. after the initial taper, go see a dr to see if he wants you on anything else or just stop altogether. he may have you taper to 2.5mg for another 2 weeks before stopping. anytime you decide to abruptly stop a med (especially anti-depressants that affect your brain chemisty), it's a good idea to check with a dr or pharmacist to make sure there are no ill effects
most anti-depressants like lexapro, celexa, paxil, zoloft need at least 4 weeks to start seeing benefits. you will definitely notice side effects right away though. and yeah if you were only on it for a few weeks no need to taper off -
Yeah, should of read up on this first. Never took anything like this before. I don't have crazy thoughts or anything, just weird electrical type impulses.

I made a thread about this a little over a year ago. I've been anti-depressant free since last April. I've really stuck to my exercise program and that helped a ton. The side affects lasted about a month or so. I still have some bad anxiety days but I try to cope the best I can. Usually with a run or yoga. Keep trying man, it gets better. If you want PM me. I'll be gone all this weekend though.

Wow. Just read your initial post in that. A little scary. I have been on the Lexapro since September/October last year. You nailed it with those weird buzz feelings throughout your body and forgetting what you were doing.

Probably will start taking 10mg to ease off of it. I see the doctor in a couple of weeks.
Congrats for your success.
You probably put ketchup on hot dogs too. -
do a 30 day raw fruit & veg, water diet with cardio exercise in the sun couple hours daily...
sweat that poison out of your body...
get back to a clear mind and learn to feel normal again...
and for your own sanity's sake stop drinking alcohol, smoking weed, cigarettes etc.
the shock will be over in a few days...
REMEMBER its not in the financial interest of the psychiatric profession for you to get better. -
go to the fucking doctor. ffs, OT

OT advising against health-care professionals since 2005.

yeah go to the doc..i tried this a few months ago (i'm only 10mg lexapro tho) and it was ok at first but then I started getting irritable and pissed off/depressed alot so I started taking it again. the main thing I hate about it is the decrease in my sex drive when I take them...when I stopped taking it for a few weeks I was horny as fuck lol. i've been on this shit for years tho so if you only started last fall it would probably be easier to ease off..
as someone else mentioned exercise is very important...gets the endorphins goin'...i was a lazy turd until ~ 4 months ago and I feel 10x better now that I go for runs/bike rides frequently. I'm also considering getting off this shit in the near future..gl -
wtf is wrong with you people?
snap out of it! -
I don't smoke weed or cigarettes, but alcohol is a slight issue with me.

I don't see a psychiatrist. I have always felt normal, but I now realize drugs won't help with our situation. At least I hope so...
I am. I see him every 3 months, next time in a couple of weeks. Should of called him though before I went cold turkey. Irresponsible of me for sure.
I have or am trying. I was looking for something last year to try to numb me. My doctor could clearly tell I needed something and prescribed me Ativan short term at first.
Sometimes life turns on you in a dime. You don't want to believe what the doctors are telling you and your wife... -
LOL miracle whip
