  1. Im thinking about letting someone mod my xbox with a 160gb hardrive and all the stuff needed.

The guy wants about 200$ for all the work plus all the old supernintendo, sega, etc games on it.

anyone think this is a fair price??

anyone have any horror stories or advice?

    thanks

  7. i have a mod'd xbox. i got it done for $50, but i supplied the hard drive.

there are 2 common types of mods
    1) a hardware mod where they instal a modchip into your xbox
    2) the 007 mod, where no extra hardware is needed other than the 007 game (the person doing the mod will have this game if he offers this type of mod)

the only real benifit i can see from getting a hardware mod is that you can buy certain mod chips that can be turned off so you can play xbox live... other than that.. i don't think it's worth the extra cost.

i have the 007 software mod, and it's great. once you have a mod'd xbox, it's a piece of cake to rip any games you want onto the hard drive. games are typically around 3.5 to 4 gigs, so if you pick up a 160 gig hd, you can fit more than enough on there.

the emulators are one of the best parts of having a mod'd xbox. i have my box setup with every nes game ever made as well as every capcom arcade game put out (like 40 versions of street fighter). there are tons of emulators and games available to download, and loading them onto your xbox is easy.

let me know if you have any other questions.
  8. dude, it's definately worth it. you can put all your games on the hard drive plus you can download games off the web. My cousin sold all his games after putting them on his mod'd box. Our mutual friend that did both of the boxes has his set up with an lcd display on the front of the box. The mod is not hard if you have any electronics skills at all or have worked with circuitboard soldering, etc.
  9. the problem is that i am pretty clueless when it comes to electronic stuff like this.

Im just wondering if I should pay a guy (whos manager at a local buy/sell video game store)

200$ to install a 160gb hardrive and set me up with everything.

doing it myself is not an option. Not sure if he would be installing a hard chip or whatever...

    Is it worth 200$???

  16. I modded my own Xbox but never put a different HD in it. I'm easily able to copy/download games and burn them and play them on my xbox. My xbox works as a great media center, in that i can download videos on my computer, and transfer them easily to my xbox, and watch them on there.

I f you ever have questions about specifics on how to do this, don't hesitate to ask.
  17. Thanks MUPokerplayer,

Im basically trying to decide if paying a guy 200$ is worth it for whatever he can do or if I should buy stuff my self and try it or who knows.

i'll be back later tonight, i'll probly have some questions
