Anyone know anything about TV's? Help please

    I'm a student looking to buy a TV for my apartment. I'm looking for the best possible 37 inch HDTV for no more than $800. But I have no idea what any of the technical terms mean. I just want it to look really nice for HD channels, movies, and 360 games. Also, the sound has to be good and the channels have to change at a good rate (I have seen a lot of TV's that take a while to change channels and its infuriating).

    Any help would be great.

    whats behind the TV is very important --- how many video inputs/outputs does it have --- to be able to set up as many machines you want. does it have laptop input so you can attach your laptop for presentations, or poker and etc.. how many hdmi does it have (2 is better than 1) many more factors --- that are important --
