The chupacabras is a legendary cryptid rumored to inhabit parts of the Americas. It is associated more recently with sightings of an allegedly unknown animal in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the United States, especially in the latter's Latin American communities. The name comes from the animal's reported habit of attacking and drinking the blood of livestock, especially goats.
The one found in Minnesota got five long front claws on each of its front feet, which would be characteristic of a badger. I ran the pictures past a few other DNR folks that have a lot of trapping and/or fur-bearer experience, and they all said its hard to be 100 percent sure what it is but if its a Minnesota animal, its probably a badger. -
