  1. Watching the live "tornado hunt" broadcast on www.weather.com from Joplin, MO and it looks like the entire town is gone. It's horrible. Mike Bettis said the tornado hit at about 6pm and they have personally seen fatalities. He started crying.

Thoughts & prayers to any P5ers and their families in that area.
  2. Damn - hospital looks wrecked there - and it's not like a lot of people there can get away.

  3. this looks realllllly bad.

prayers for anyone in the affected area
  4. Sounded like a woman is still looking for her children near where they're standing. A body was carried away earlier, couldn't see it too well. A witness reported seeing a 300lb man get blown through a window when the tornado hit.

He is fine, he is deployed. Dont know about his family tho.

  17. Yes it is ending - for some. But not everyone.

  18. Walmart in Joplin

  19. I've done a ton of travel the past 10 years but last week was the first time I ever drove through tornado damage - on my way through southern Virginia into Tennessee, just off the interstate a small community for about .5 miles just wiped out. So crazy to see trees just ripped apart and some building totally gone while others no more than 100 feet away were just fine I can't imagine seeing what a tornado does when it goes right through a city.
  20. Holy crap, if this was equal or worse than the Birmingham tornado then just wow I drove through birm a coup weeks ago and it was crazy seeing huge trees ripped up and laid over
  21. Tune into local law enforcement in Jasper Co. Missouri. I feel the pain. We got it bad in Alabama a few weeks ago. Good luck out there.

  22. Sick fuckin' hook echo imo

Doubt it's coincidence storms are getting stronger, happening more frequently, and hitting farther north of their historical targets. Someones gotta say it.

Yup, its the same reason why Seattle being damn near about 7 degrees colder than normal for the past 90 days. We have had about 5 days in last 60 that were at or above average. You know what...next week we are scheduled for another week of temps ten degrees below normal.

    Now there is Ka-wink-e-dink

You just described the kind of stuff that likely occurs w climate change. Thanks for making the case against yourself.

"Global Warming" was a bad name to give it initially because it allowed small-minded people to draw small-minded conclusions.

  28. ya the weather has been crazy this spring in iowa, it has either been extremely hot (99 last week here, record breaking) or really cold and windy/rainy..i mean ya it is iowa and we have swings like that a lot but the fluctuations are much larger this spring for some reason. another kawinkadink?

  29. edit: notice at the :23 mark - mammatus clouds, very rare
