I applied for an internship for the Susan Biddle Ross Foundation but I got in a big spat with the guy heading the intern search because I didin't want to be an architect. Good thing I had my guys in the Van Buren boys gang take care of him

trying to get a mental picture on this. obv. real pics would be helpful. if it is just one side of the house i would immediately think of a water leak. if the basement is unfinished, dig up the floor about three feet away from the collapse and see what it looks like. if all is well and it is just a soft spot, floor jacks will bring up the house(not fix it but bring it back to level) then shore up the foundation under the house itself and leave the jacks. if it is serious then do it in stages.be prepared to fix all the sheet rock that cracks and the roof if it has been going on a long time.

probably gonna have to set a new pier, maybe three, which type depends on what works best on your soil, then just level it out and cosmetics to the interior. if your froggy and can get by without code enforcement dig your own footings and pour your own piers and jack that shit up.

pay me 5k to come in and fuck it all up then tell mike holmes you paid me 50k for the repairs and he will feel bad for you and fix it.

I thought this was going to be a thread about the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.

Lots of factors homey. Post some pics. There are some different solutions depending on soil conditions, funds, etc. A contractor can help but you may also need a geotechnical engineer and/or structural engineer to help with the design to ensure you are up to local/national codes. However, ask 10 contractors, you will have 10 different answers---so be careful when they are pricing this out.
After a little research, assuming this is Orland Park, Illinois....there is a Village of Orland Park Building code/requirements. Docs are here...

You will probably need a building permit and inspector based upon a casual review.
I have some geotechnical and structural engineering experience, PM and I may be able to help some more. -
I came in here to post a smart-ass comment about house foundations, turns out that's what you were talking about. I don't know enough to help you, but I have poured many foundations. I worked for a real pos and all of our foundations were about half as thick as they were required to be by law...just to save a few bucks.

i was all ready to give my expert opinion...then i realized you weren't talking about makeup. ;)
