    I finally saw part 1 just a few weeks ago. I was surprised by how good of a movie it was compared to the mostly bad press it received. Looking forward to the rest of the story being told.

    her writing is way too detailed for me. she describes every single thread of fiber in characters wardrobe, and spec of dust in the room. she's very good at it but she could shorten her books by a couple hundred pages and not lose anything.

    I would say yes. The book is so in depth that I think it definitely helps to understand the movie. Even doing a trilogy they can't come close to explaining everything as well as the book does.
