    Tinnie................375ml (approx 12.7oz) can of beer
    Stubbie..............375ml bottle of beer
    Schooner............385ml glass
    Middy/Pot............285ml glass
    glass...................200ml glass

    Full strength beer = 4.8% Alcohol by volume
    Mid strength beer= 3.5%
    Light beer= 2.7%

    A shout...............where a group of drinkers each take it in turns to buy a round for all others in the shout

    The local.............the Pub

    Off ones face..............very drunk

    (Maaaate !! I was totally off my face last night )

    Slab....................24 tinnies sold encased in plastic

    (Grab a coupla slabs from the drive thru and head back to Davo's)

    Case..................24 stubbys in a cardboard box

    Empties..............any beer glass/can/stubby/bottle which no longer contains beer.

    (Was a great party - we cleaned out 27 cases of empties)

    Kick in.................all contribute to help pay for something

    (If we all kick in we can get another round of Jaeger bombs)

    Fosters beer..............Beer that Carlton & United Breweries sells to foreigners over there

    (Fosters has not been commonly sold/drunk at home since the mid 1970's)

    Vic Bitter/Carlton Draught..........Victorian beer

    Tooheys.................................NSW beer

    XXXX.....................................Queenslan d beer

    Swan......................................West Aus beer

    West End/Coopers.....................South Aus beer

    Boags/Cascade.........................Tassie beer

    There are boutique beers available all over the country for the connoisseur (I just finished a Blue Tongue Ale)

    Beer drinking isn't as ingrained as it used to be. Wine and RTDs have significant market share.
