I am quite fiscally conservative and socially moderate. I have been against the Socialist we had in the WH for the last 2 years but now I must admit he is handling Libya almost exactally as I would. Pretty much perfectally.
Don't get involved in another Country's internal conflict until the citizens rise up against the Dictator FIRST. Take time to make sure the citizens are serious, they ask for our help, Join or form a coalition, then bomb the shit out of the gov't strongholds from afar, stand down and let the citizens uprise and take over.
In the mean time, pay close attention and if an undesirable like Al Quada starts taking over, take them out. This is awesome! No sarcasim. I, for one, would rather the rest of the stupid world not hate us for being bullies. As far as being under the 'control' of NATO or the UN, just LOL ... We ARE the bosses of the world and everyone knows it but it is okay not to act like it some times.
GOOOO BARAK!!! He is showing real leadership by not catering to either the Left or the Right with this one.
And BTW, keep up the good work with Bush's third term - especially after your, Reid, and Pelosie's version of HCR goes down next year. You will be my second favorite One Timer!
P.S. I know the Dems don't like political threads on the weekends because they can dominate them durring the week when the Republicans are at work but today is the only day I have tiem to give BHO a shout out.
There are a lot of Dictators on our little blue planet that are getting verrrry nervous. -
Anyone who makes it a point to use his middle name is fucking annoying...

lol at the PS.
Sooooo true. -

I think youre kidding yourself if you dont think some of the rebels we're helping are linked to Al Qaeda. Also doubt Libya ran by the Muslim Brotherhood will be better for America than their current power structure...I am all for freedom for all but there comes a point where you need to realize the costs associated with finding each and every thing we can get involved in to extend our stay in the middle east are too large to continue to do what we've done. I fear that this will domino from country to country and I dont like setting the precedent that we will keep putting our soldiers in harms way to do this sort of thing.
I'm not really sure what the best solution is but my friend who works for the CIA, and whom I consider by far the most informed buddy I know, doesn't think we should be doing anything there. He preferred the way we handled Egypt.
Last, I dont believe for a second that we will keep ground troops out of there....Ill take a bet if someone would like to wager on that one. -
Best PS ever

I may be kidding myself but I would have more respect for niptuck's opinions if he could spell

BTW I cannot spell very well, it is (absolutely - because I cannot spell definitly my weakest life skill). In Fact, I asked my wife how to spell Hussein, Libya, and afar ITT.
I'm not sure why I didn't open in Chrome with auto spell?
Now, die in a grease fire -- oldie but a goodie <----swidt? -
just a random thought but it's been odd watching the difference in media coverage between the tea party protests of the last 2 years and the union protests going on now. The unions have been way more vitriolic but it's certainly not painted that way.
-
The media sides with the union protesters while they think the tea party members complaints are only fueled by racism directed towards President Obama.

Lol at comparing egypt and libya as something to handle the same exact way. Guy probably plays aces the same way every time and never gets paid off.

mad love to budo's gif on that. fuckin goldddd. dying laughing at it.

The reason liberals dominate political threads in OT has nothing to do with any temporal restrictions and everything to do with the personnel arguing for each side, current OP being a great example.

Yes, I put that in there just for you actually :) - I know you work your ass off all week and pay mad taxes. You are the exception to that particular rule. You want higher taxes for the 'wealthy' even though many would consider you wealthy at least from an income standpoint. Sticking point though: you don't volunteer to pay more taxes yourself, you try and force everyone else to-- and in the mean time you pay less than you think you should for some reason.

son of a bitch. -
it's greedy and selfish to want to keep what you earn but idealistic and caring to want to take from others for your own political and personal gains. Get with the program nip.

Edited By: dolphin13 Mar 27th, 2011 at 06:11 PMand when Bush and Obama gave you tax cuts that was paid for on the backs of people who make more money than you, you didn't say no, did you?Originally Posted by niptuck

Difference is I want taxes to be paid equally by everyone. Doesn't that seem 'fair'? ughhhh i'm digressing.
Obama's foreign policy ROCKS! I hope whomever replaces him (Newt Hopefully) learns a lil somethin from bHO. -
exactly. Theres many countries whose people rise up only to be slaughtered because its not important enough for our news apparently. Especially in africa.
Cant save everybody tho. Nor should we. But restlessness on a global level leads to an unstable situation that has led to a few wars. Looking like we wont be strong gets bad people excited. Table image folks.
Also those other currently quiet countries take notice when we get spread thin around the world. They know its safer to be bad when were busy. You could sayyyy were giving other places an opportunity to rile shit up.
Being soft in other parts of the world doesnt get the respect you might think it does here. Its the "just give them a chance to do the right thing" theory.
In many parts of the world that means an opening for a strong armed manipulator to whip all those pussies in line knowing they are soft.
Ah back to the real world where there are lots of countries that rely on us looking strong to keep certain aggressors in check. Hi there venezuela! (Im waving from columbia.) And the lovely central america countries that are so quiet. Isnt it nice we have agreements to basically be their military if invaded (costa rica among others).
Many of us over 30 people barely remember central american countries not at war over something, often with themselves. It was not a part of the world that was for vacations. Lets keep it this way.
Some countries just repeat history easilly because they dont study it and learn -or just dont have very much education to start with so we give some guidance to help make better decisions on their own. Other countries use history over people who dont know it. I guessss we could just implant education chips and history so they dont repeat it chips and alllll will be welllllll. Lolz.
(Insert predictable pic of us smuggling guns and what bad people we are helping rebels.)
Ahhhh thank goddddd there is one answer for every situation and place. Phew. It would really suck if they had different cultures and stuff and we actually had to adapt to another culture.
Rant over on a nice sarcastic note for you slow people who think its still the same rant (22% of you at least). -
And even though you are against Medicare and Social Security, when you turn 65 you will still cash those government checks that show up, and you will still take advantage of your government-supplied health insurance.

I'm not sure why you won't volunteer to forgo your benefits, except for the obvious reason that it would be a stupid thing to do. It doesn't seem like stupidity has ever stopped you before. -
Lol at steamrolling them with redirection and nitpicking small points to distract from the main points as dominating.

Youre just good at spreading dillusional thoughts through practice. Its what you do for a living actually. Lulz. -
your point would be valid if niptuck was arguing that his SSI check was too much.
