original story

went to get coffee this am and i asked the owner what kind of swing the baby was on that she could have fallen off and caused so much damage. she took me aside and told me that story was a front. the mother's sister was babysitting while she was at work and she shook diana so hard that it caused blood clots in her brain and ultimately killed her. the sister was arrested and arraigned today. she is expected to be charged with murder. i can't find it online, but her mugshot was on newschannel12 long island for the past few days apparently. took everything i had not to lose my cool when i heard this. the accident was devistating enough, but finding out the truth almost killed me.

the part that i understand the least, is apparently the mother forgave her sister already. MBN to to religious enough (i can't attribute forgiveness in this kind of situation to anything else) to forgive the murderer of your child-family or not and accident or not.

all you parents that read this, please give your kid a hug and a kiss!!!
2. Honestly this makes a lot more sense - I couldn't figure out how an 11mo could fall from a swing without it being negligence in one way or another - how unbelievably sad for the parents of this child
3. i still want some bagels
4. i couldn't understand it either, which is why i asked. i knew that the mother wasn't home when it happened, but i couldn't fathom how high an 11 month old could be swinging that the fall would kill her. i'm so saddened at how short tempered and careless someone could be when taking care of a child. she has a baby the exact same age as well, i wonder who will raise her.

cant tell if you are implying that NY bagels are good or bad

sad story btw
10. really lol? ny has the best bagels by a landslide. it has something to do with the water. my family even opened up "ny bagels" down in fl-they had tap water shipped down to them and the bagels tasted like they do here. the stores were crazy busy all the time.

13. I really don't want to turn this into a bagel debate out of respect for the thread topic

but

NY bagels are nowhere near the taste of NJ bagels. You are right, the water quality makes them taste differently. And for some reason the alkalinity of the water in NJ does it.

After tasting most of the bagel shops in manhattan (pick a bagel, ess-a, david's etc), I have to revert back to my NJ bagel shops.

I know its crazy to say that, but after being jewish for 26 years and tasting most of the bagels on the eastern seaboard, i think I can make an informed opinion lol
14. Sometimes I wish we lived in the eye for an eye day and age. Someone should shake the fuck out of this broad she how she likes it cmon seriously. Also with babies you can tell a regular Im hungry cry to an Im terribly hurt and in distress cry (from what I know being a non parent just a great "Uncle"

*Note to self Bring home a dozen bagels next time in NY

Is it also that they put honey in the water when they boil them ???
15. i've never had a bagel in north jersey, which is just an extension of NY anyway , but i have in south jersey and they tasted like a crappy lenders bagel. i haven't tried any of those places you listed, i'm from long island not the city.

16. i'm actually talking south jersey, which is where I am from. Totally disagree with the lenders taste tho. I went back 2 weekends ago and brought back some from the place i get them at home and you can totally taste the difference.

I've been to Merrick, Bellmore etc. They are decent bagels out there, but I'm rarely out there.
17. well, whats important is that the bagel topic has been brought to the forefront...the baby did not die for nothing.
18. i am pro choice
19. So sad....

I can see how you'd be shaken up about this news. It's always disheartening when you learn about a death to an innocent child that was so easy to avoid. Hope she gets shivved in prison.

That crossed my mind as well, pigalet. Wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, though.

Police: Deer Park Woman Critically Injured Baby Niece by Shaking Her

Eyewitness News

LONG ISLAND (WABC) -- Suffolk County Police have arrested a Deer Park woman for allegedly critically injuring her 11-month-old niece by shaking her.

Police say 22 year old Paola Baez shook her eleven month old niece so violently, blood bubbled of her mouth.

Police got the case Wednesday morning after they say Baez and her husband brought the infant to Good Samaritan Hospital in East Islip, claiming she had fallen off a swing.

Police say doctors quickly discovered the truth.

Officers determined the suspect had shaken her niece at home in order to get the baby to stop crying.
The baby suffered subdural intracranial and retinal hemorrhaging. She was listed in critical condition.

The news is nothing short of astonishing to Baez's neighbors.

"It's a nightmare. It's a nightmare for something like that to happen," Donna Clavin said.

Neighbors say the family moved in here only about a month ago.

As we arrived at the house, a man pulled out of the driveway refusing to say a word about the allegations that would turn the stomach of any parent.

Baez has been charged with Reckless Assault of a Child.
23. In the previous thread you were asking what you could do to help. I have a response for you now:

HIRE SOMEONE TO WHACK THAT BROAD. I got some spare cash laying around . . .
24. yup, that's it...guess i couldn't find it because they didn't use the mother's name

the woman quoted in the article named donna is the one who told me today. she said the woman's sister called saying that diana fell out of her swing and was rushed to the hospital, so donna brought her over to good sams. she sat with the sisters while diana was in surgery, and had to witness the surgeon tell them the news. she said it was by far the worst experience of her life.

they donated all of the organs, not sure if i said this earlier. the mother's stronger then i would be, i think that i'd be in the next cell from her sister if i were her.

There is a pizza spot near me (LA) that has their water shipped in from Boston. Their pizza is bomb, but quite pricey. Yet they have a reasonable lunch special of 2 slices, salad, and a drink for 5 bucks
26. she must have killed the baby out of sheer jealousy since nobody on earth would have a kid with that monstrosity of a "woman"
27. i'm actually 99% sure she has a baby the same age as diana was unless there is another sister.

edit: just looked at her fb, and i guess there is a 3rd sister.
