WTF
-
as a proud alum
ship the motor city bowl or whatever lol -
seriously how do you turn down that amount of national spotlight regardless that your playing on there homefield. Ball state goes in there and beats boise state that would be epic but if they lose well boise state had home field and a great team. Now your going to go play NC state or notre dame. gawd
-
ball state versus ND is where its at!!! this would be HUGEEE for BSU, going undefeated and then lighting up an instate notre dame team in their bowl game. if they play ND it will get a larger audience than any other game they wouldve played.
-
Back in 2003 an unproven boise state traveled to Ft. worth, texas to play the TCU horn frogs in the ft. worth bowl. a home game pretty much for TCU. Ball state turning this chance down just proved how they arent ready to play in the BCS. way to go ball state.
Go broncos -
FWIW, ball state would beat boise state (and i like boise state more).

there are several legit reasons why they didnt take this game. you have to understand, ball state needs this football season to revive its school, its image and its football/sports programs.

1. they didnt take the boise state game because, well lets face it, the game wouldnt draw that big of an audience. plus, they are playing a team on their home field (why would they wanna do that?).
2. i think they want to play closer to home so that their fans can come to the game. build back up the school spirit that they used to have but lost over the past decade.
3. imo, they wanted ND. a ND versus Ball State game would draw a huge audience. plus, they will probably beat ND (which would be a big deal for ball state, beating ND in a bowl game to go undefeated).
there is a lotta logic behind their decision and i think they made the right choice. -
anyone want to explain to me what happened? cause i obv missed it.
-
Boise State has traveled cross country in the last 5 years to play opponents in states closer to there homes or in TCU case there home. They did this to play the best opponents being offered. Ball State had an opportunity to play the BEST competition possible for themselves and the Bitched out.

WTF. wouldn't draw a big audience? The battle of the unbeatens. They should take the best opponent any time no matter what.

Boise states fans have traveled to memphis, TN to play Louisville in the LIberty Bowl.
FAns traveled to TExas when they played TCU.
They overwhelmingly traveled to arizona for Fiesta Bowl.
If fans not coming is the issue they have BAD Fans plain and simple
3. imo, they wanted ND. a ND versus Ball State game would draw a huge audience. plus, they will probably beat ND (which would be a big deal for ball state, beating ND in a bowl game to go undefeated).
Who the fucks cares about Ball state beating a bad NOtre dame team. GTFO please. such a bad argument.

You might want to stop being such a homer and actually think logically about what he said, because it made a lot of sense.

And regarding your actual counter points, he admitted that they are trying to build the school spirit back up, which pretty well implies they don't have great fans at this moment.
If you can't understand why their fans would love the opportunity to beat an in-state rival with Notre Dame's history, I don't think I'll be able to explain it to you. -
because notre dame sucks? How would beating a top 10 undefeated ranked team on there home field not help revive the ball state program. Woopty dooo lets beat jerrys kids (notre dame)
-
Personally I'd much rather see Ball State play ND than the fighting potatoes or whatever at home.
-
I really don't want to come across as offensive, but do you guys honestly not get it? It's not that hard. Notre Dame has been in the national college football spotlight forever, and I'm sure any school in Indiana (especially one like Ball State with nowhere near the same history) would love the chance to beat them, no matter how bad they are that particular year.

Nobody is trying to say that beating Boise State wouldn't be a boost, but beating Notre Dame could be almost as big a boost with less risk depending on how the local fans feel about it. Just because YOU don't think it matters doesn't mean they don't think it matters. -
notre dame draws a 100000x larger crowd than boise state, no matter how good/bad they are. i think ball state, like most people in the state of indiana, wanna see ball state rape ND. plus ND is going to get a decent opp just because of their fan base...and this is about the biggest game ND can get.
a homer? i fckin hate ND more than anyone else on P5s -
You're obv right. I know Ball State fans better than anyone in OT and can say with near 100% certainty that a match up vs ND would cause much more excitement within the fan base.

gotcha, my bad...im still learning how to read :)
-
So what happens when Ball State loses? Which i def. think is feasible.
-
what do you think happens? ND fans celebrate after winning their first bowl game in 15 years!!! ball state ends up 12-1
-
Im saying there main goal is to build credibility in Indiana. not much of a goal. If they lose to ND bye bye credibilty
-
For the people of Indiana that are fans of ball state.. losing to ND is far far far from "bye bye credibility." Losing to some school from Idaho that nobody here cares about would be a way better example of your "bye bye bye credibility." Regardless of the fact that boise state is much better than ND, we are talking about Indiana fan perceptions, which is a subject you have no clue about obv.
-
I've watched college football every week all year as I do every year.
I can't name one player on Boise State, nor can I name their coach, nor do I know the name of their stadium.
I can name at least a few ND players, their coach, and their stadium.
The recruiting game is as much of a popularity game as it is anything.
I think that the game against ND (if they get it) is a FAR better game for their program. They WILL win that game, and that's a HUGE amount of exposure for them.
Also, this game will be so much better marketed. I guarantee you that the casual fan will be fed (some b.s.) that ND isn't as bad as people think, and that Charlie Weis is THIS close to getting this program back to what it once was.
Extremely intelligent move by decision makers at Ball State if they get ND. -
is there anyone that agrees with me? or does everyone think im full of shit?
-
Smart move by ball state imo.
No one outside of Potato Land or Ball State-ville will give a shit about Ball State vs the Blue Field crusaders.
ND-Ball State will be a biggggggg time game for them, even though ND is obv way way down. That doesn't matter. -
i love notre dame... and they suck....
however ball state/nd is a much better game than ball/boise in the nobodygivesashitbowl
if and when ball defeats nd it will give them much needed credibilty within their own state which is the most important thing they can gain... what good really is it to them winning yet another game nobody is watching, regardless if it is against another undefeated....
baby steps. -
mr. brianyut if what you say is true. That no one would care outside of potato land. Than why was this a discussion on ATH and all over ESPN.com. It had over 2000 comments. not one logical person said it played better in there favor to play ND
