moral of the story not many give a shit about this mans name. a name does not make the man the man makes the name
-
shit, this video doesn't have the entire jon stewart joke. I couldn't find the actual feed from the oscars.
nm, found the full video -
whats sad is that roughly 70% of the population is probably subconciously deterred from supporting obama just because conservative talk show hosts are now only calling him by his full name(which is fine, just not when they have an agenda to influence the weak minded).
-
I guess you're the judge that determines that listeners of conservative talk show hosts are weak-minded.
Bush has taken a bashing for almost 8 years now, including "Dubya" references using his middle initial which were made to look him outlandishly Texas-redneckish. If people have problems with anyone repeating his middle name as Hussein, they should take it up with his parents. -
lol because Americans don't have automatically negative associations with the letter W!
apples to oranges my friend. -
The mention of Obama's middle name is no different from Cheney implying that if the Democrats won the election, there would be another large-scale terrorist attack in the U.S. Politics of fear intended to influence the ignorant voter.
-
wait, I thought his middle name was "Hope"?
-
no no its gotta be barack change obama
-
^^^exactly
and as if george and his stupidity didn't do anything to earn his 8 years of bashing. -
Wow Jon Stewart almost said something funny. Almost.
-
from a foxnews poll
Who is Usama Rooting For?
Who does Usama bin Laden want to be the next president? More people think the terrorist leader wants Obama to win (30 percent) than think he wants Clinton (22 percent) or McCain (10 percent). Another 18 percent says it doesn抰 matter to bin Laden and 20 percent are unsure -
It was meant to create the caricature of him as a bumbling Texas redneck, and the media types (late night comedians, Maureen Dowd, "That's My Bush") who had no problem with creating that "negative association" now are up in arms over this one? Hypocrisy.
-
i swear those "surveys" are conducted by 13 year olds. so substantial right there

That's your opinion, and no more valid than if I were to say "as if Barack and his Muslim upbringing aren't doing anything to earn these mentions of his middle name." -
Muslim upbringing? What makes you think Barack was brought up as a Muslim?
I agree that a person's assesment of GW Bush's intelligence is a matter of opinion. But Obama was not raised as a Muslim. That's not an opinion; it's a fact. Therefore your post above is fundamentally-flawed. -
Stupidity? What makes you qualified to think a Yale and Harvard Business School graduate is stupid?
-
LOL! I didn't say he was stupid. That was someone else. I actually think he is a very intelligent person.
That said, if you can't see a difference between the statements "Bush is stupid" and "Obama was raised as a Muslim" as the former being an opinion and the latter a factual one, there's no point in going further with this discussion.
And there are plenty of rich kids with powerful parents who graduate fro Harvard or Yale. Doesn't mean they are not stupid. I'm sure Paris Hilton's parents could have gotten her into an Ivy League school, if she wanted. Does that change the fact that Paris is a moron? -
"Yale and Harvard Business School graduate is stupid"
how does one get into Yale with a C average in high school?
oh yeah. -
this one really didn't have that trademark LeftyMark zing. don't get soft on us.
-
exactly, how the fuck can they consider that who he is rooting for when it is being taken by someone else.
-
the question posed was "which presidential candidate do you think Osama Bin Laden would want in office".
i thought the video would get at least a chuckle out of somebody, lol. shoulda known it would just spark more debate. -
Are you fucking serious?? What's the worst thing to be painted...a bumbling texas redneck or SADDAM HUSSEIN.
Putting emphasis on the name HUSSEIN is meant to do only one thing: incite angry feelings about 9/11, terrorists, iraq and al qaeda.
Dubya makes me think the man is a bit dumb but not a fucking MURDERER.
the two aren't even close. these talk show hosts, like the one mccain himself condemned for his inappropriate rant are preying on people's fears and its fucking disgusting.
they aren't going to be making comedy shows about barack plotting attacks on the us with saddam and osama. give me a fuckin break -
Are you fucking serious? It's his name.
I guess we're supposed to pretend he has no middle name so as to avoid accusations of inciting angry feelings about terrorists and Al-Qaeda. We can't have that. -
Not at all, but intent is a big part of it.
The whole reason people could pray on W's middle name is because thats what people called him to differentiate him from his Dad.
People are calling Obama by his full name just to get the Hussein out there. They put an emphasis on that part of his name SPECIFICALLY to incite these feelings.
Its disgusting. -
agree totally ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^even though u dont like me!
-
"I guess we're supposed to pretend he has no middle name so as to avoid accusations of inciting angry feelings about terrorists and Al-Qaeda. We can't have that."
you're entirely missing the point. someone can be named hussein and have absolutely nothing to do with terrorism or al-qaeda as much as you'd like to think otherwise.
