sucking really bad for a really long time has its advantages.

I read an amusing article about the Appel situation. The author (don't have the link, but it's from BucsDugout.com) said that the Pirates have about $4 million that they can offer Appel without being penalized any draft picks. So what they do is offer Appel the $4 M, and tell him the offer is going to go down as the Pirates sign more picks above slot. Give Appel a few days, sign another player, offer him $3.9 M. Then $3.7 M. Etc. Just like a kidnapper demanding a ransom and cutting off the toes and fingers of the victim as the ransom isn't paid.
I'd like to sign Appel, but after reading more about the situation, it really isn't that big a deal if we don't. -
How ya like pitching in Arlington, Roy?

Oswalt is a moron.
"The way people view games now is different because of fantasy baseball," Oswalt said. "It's not about wins and losses anymore. If you get beat 1-0, strike out 10 and only give up one hit, they think that's the greatest game you've ever pitched in your life. I'd rather win ballgames myself." -
Rangers looking to give up 2 three touchdown games this season.
-
LOL, really? Tie ball game, bottom of the 9th inning, with Andrew McCutchen on deck, the Astros make the silly decision of pitching to utility infielder Drew Sutton. Obviously Sutton makes them pay by launching a home run to straight-away centerfield to walk off the Astros. This season can't be real.

Raise it! Go Buccos!!

It's been some nice nostalgia watching a Phillies team out of contention in June. Really brings me back to my childhood. I wonder what Von Hayes is up to.
Also, did Bartolo Colon eat Hideki Irabu? -
Lolphils..... Never gets old writing that

Also enjoyable: Mets fans getting chesty in July 2012.

So who gets the fan vote for NL now? Harper i assume.
After falling just short in fan balloting, Braun was added to the National League's starting outfield on Tuesday when the Dodgers' Matt Kemp pulled out of the event with a hamstring injury. Braves third baseman Chipper Jones took Kemp's spot on the roster, and Braun took Kemp's spot in the starting lineup.
Braun got the nod by rule, as the top vote-getter on the player ballot who was not voted to the starting lineup by fans.

I don't know who's going to win the fan vote, but Michael Bourn is clearly the most deserving.

I really want one of those Tampa Bay Rays' 'Turn Back The Clock Hats' and am having zero success finding one anywhere. Frustrating.

Is that Smoltz calling the TB/NYY that keeps calling him David Phelps on the MLB network?

Not Smoltz, it's one of the Yankee guys but he just keeps calling him Phelps. Sweet story. -
Damn. I incorrectly assumed Cutch would get to replace Kemp as the starter. I wanted to see him bat leadoff.
