Your grammar is all messed up in the first sentence (probably auto correct, not taking a shot) so I'll let you edit if you want so you can be more clear, then I'd be happy to respond.

And when you asked "can I assume you didn't read the article?", I answered " you're correct". If you took that as ignoring, then that's on you pal, I'm not implanting thoughts in your head or anything. Kinda surprised at you jaybone. -
No...if I can speak for JB for a sec...I believe what he's implying is that you were already undermining the article without even reading it after I quoted the one paragraph talking about WAR not being the be-all end-all of MVP talk.

Maybe you should read it before coming to your own conclusion about why a site like Fangraphs would be promoting Mike Trout as MVP. -
This.

And my grammar is awful. I have a math based degree. If computers and phones didnt have spell check, my replies would look like a 6th grader is typing. -
Lol how could I have been undermining the article when I didn't even read it!? If the paragraph you posted that I was supposed to read 1000 times (give me time, I read slow durrr) was from that article, then ok, great. It still doesn't change my opinion that fangraphs

It still doesn't change my opinion that fangraphs has a vested interest in promoting the guy that would make their stats seem more valid. I don't hate you or anything, it's called a difference of opinion, and if you can't see that you're acting like a drunk idiot itt, then you have bigger problems than what I think (lol like what I think should cause a problem with you).,

All of this in order kinda made me think that your were just ignoring it because of that stats it used. Sorry I made such a large jump to conclusion there.

Can you read the article already...

He barely talks about WAR and even says something along the lines of, "this shouldnt be used to determine MVP." -
Siiiick pitcher duel going on right now. Greinke v Darvish. I'm loving it as I own either both or one of them in every league that I'm still in.
-
No problem, I was arguing like 4 people and didn't want to go into why I didn't read it, and like I said I wasn't taking a shot your grammar, I just wasn't sure exactly what you meant and didn't want to respond to something that wasn't actually what you were saying. No worries on my end.

We had a good discussion going, then jroth came racing in like a frat boy with his first bottle of everclear, going apeshit. I think that's when it went from a discussion to a "let's call scottbrewr an idiot" thread. If we all want that I could do a well or something. -
Piazza is the man for 2 reasons; 1) the game winning HR in the 1st game after the terrorist attacks was the most emotional I ever got over a baseball game - that was about as badass as it gets on the diamond and replays of it still give me chills
2) He's a huge metal fan and buddies with Eddie Trunk
My only point was that I'm sure plenty of guys were on PEDs all over the league. -
Went and watched the Piazza clip and teared up as usual. Then I ended up on this clip that I've never seen of a blind kid throwing out the first pitch. Too much emotion from baseball than I can handle.

That was a good article and interesting but if you scroll the reply posts the author gets lit up. With valid points I might add. And holy mooly is it biased. Lol at (counting ) stats and (thinking ) stats.
Don't get me wrong, Mike Trout has changed my viewing habits. The kid is a stud.
If one of you sabers guys say RBI is irrelevant again I'MAGONNA snap. RBI win games. Baseball is about winning and not your fantasy team. -
Ya, I'm the one acting like a tard itt. Go back and find where I said trout sucks or wasn't having a good year. I'll wait. I answered the question "why would you pick Cabrera over trout?", and 8 pages later we're still here. When you come in with a "mcutcheon or Braun should be nl MVP" do I call you an idiot? No. It's your opinion. You were right earlier when you said you act this way out of frustration, I agree with that. If insulting me is what you need to feel better, go ahead, I have thick skin.

OT is weird. So are advanced stats. Oh trout's war is 10.3? Well you should know by now war isn't good for anything.

Trumbo gets a hit, Bourjos pinch runs, and then Scocia replaces Bourjos with Vernon Wells the very next inning. Its like he's purposely trying to lose.

Edited By: JRoth15 Sep 21st, 2012 at 05:06 AMlol i was watching that as well...does he not know that vernon can pinch hit in the 9th if they need to use him then??Originally Posted by krs33

wait...a perfect response for this thread--vernon wells has 3 gold gloves!! -

Is a run in a 1-1 game the same as run in a 9-1 game? Where are the “clutch” numbers? There are none because Cabreras numbers are silly good in the late innings in close game.
If this one of the replies that you're talking about? If so, krs had a post about it on page 1 of this thread:
And another poster posted the actual numbers in reply to that post:Originally Posted by krs33
Trout has a higher Win Probability Added than Cabrera, which kind of diffuses this argument. Here's an easy definition of WPA:
'We know intuitively that a home run in the third inning of a blowout is less important to that win than a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning of a close game. Win Probability Added (WPA) captures this difference by measuring how individual players affect their team’s win expectancy on a per-play basis'
And Trout beats Cabrera in it.
That said, using RBIs or situational batting average, say, as a measurement of clutch is not very useful. But Fangraphs has its lovely win probability stats, and in those, Trout dominates Cabrera. Trout’s 5.57 WPA is the best in MLB, and his “Clutch” is 0.04. Cabrera clocks in at a 4.45 WPA and a horrendous -1.36 “Clutch.” Trout does more to contribute to his team’s wins, and performs better in high leverage situations.
The only other replies I read were about Cabrera being a 100% lock to win MVP if he wins the triple crown...which also isn't true, as Ted Williams won the triple crown twice, and finished 2nd in MVP voting in both years. -
