Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. whether you like it, hate it, love it, or loathe it, tell me why and how I can improve.

OP (or anyone for that matter), what kind of program do you need to do the beats? It seems like a killer idea just to mess around with.. -
lol why does everyone try and make beats now.
-
I was into making beats for a little bit freshman year of college. I would sample songs and make hip hop beats out of them tho.
I had a few really good ones and would even put rappers over them (take out the original beats). I really wish I still had some of them just so I could remember how good/bad they were. I cant even remember what program I used to use. -
because they mistakenly think it is easy.
It's okay OP for just fucking around, but you are always going to be making sub par shit as long as you are using pre fab electronically derived sounds. If you want to get serious you should chop up songs and take what you want or buy a quality synth and compose from that. -
FL studio

Reason: its not "free"...but, ya know, it is -
Pro Tools
I like both of those pieces. Off to a good start. -
The samples in FL studio are very electronic. I don't get the impression that this was made on FL, unless OP added his own samples/drum kits. Considering he's just starting out, I doubt he added them.
I like the beat. A lil too laid back for me, but it still sounds good. Definitely needs bass. The lil scratch you incorporate could sound better. Love the concept, just get a tighter scratch sound. At first I thought the snare sound was a bit of out place, but it's grown on me.
Good job OP. -
Sort of on the same topic, does anyone know of a program you can upload beats to and edit/record over them? I don't have a Mac so Garage Band isn't an option. Me and a buddy used to rhyme for fun with that, but haven't found anything comparable. I downloaded FruityLoops but I can't crack the file (noob).

To give you some background, I am a classically trained pianist. I have a regular piano I play classical stuff on, but throughout the years I have bought some top notch equipment, im just illiterate on how to use them. I have a Yamaha ES8 Keyboard, MBox Protools, G5 Mac Desktop, Roland MC909, and a Tascam Mixer and it all just sits here.

The only thing I use to make beats right now is the YamahaES8 Keyboard itself. I just record Individual tracks and put them together. I have no clue how to master or edit music through any sort of program even though I have Protools. If anyone out there is really good at using these programs, hit me up. Ill pay for some tutoring. When it comes to the actual Music/Music Theory part, I can hold my own. -
Keep at it man, pretty chill/smooth idea you're working from and the directions you can go with this are unlimited.
-
Cool Edit Pro...I used to have a link to download a cracked version, but it shouldn't be too hard to find on a torrent site. Really easy to use, and easy to mix vocals.

gotcha. yeah the technology can be hard to master. if you are serious about tutoring, i know my brother used to give online courses in beat making. hes really good, mostly hip hop but the fundementals are the same. regardless he might be into it if the price is right, i know he gets inundated with free help/beats requests, so oferring money will definitely sweeten the deal. i can shoot him an email and feel him out if you like?

Use Ableton suite/live 8 to start, it is the industry standard for producers across the board and once you pick it up you can start using the other programs if their is something you like more, reason, protools, fl etc. I've been messing around for it for a little while but have decided to take piano lessons to at least have thatbbackground. The programs are insane with how much you can do, able ton has a ton of really good tutorials online.

I really wish we could save these and share them. This thing is fun.
