Did all of those. We did some clubbing in Beijing, which was fun and when we visited the Great Wall we stopped at a jade factory. I remember buying some jewelry. Not sure if you are staying in Beijing or going further South to somewhere like Shanghai, but one thing I noticed is that a lot of places like that have the same "stuff" for sale and it gets more expensive the farther South you go. If you plan on buying anything like that, buy it in Beijing or somewhere in the North instead of somewhere like Shanghai. Also stopped in a pearl factory and bought a string of pearls for cheap. They string them in front of you and would make good gifts, although they may need to be restrung with better material later. Don't hesitate to throw out "Tai gui la" many times. Bargain, bargain, bargain. You are buying from some of the best capitalists in the world.
Also, when you go to Tianamen and the Forbidden city etc, you are going to have people come up and want to take pics with you. For some people it will be their first time seeing Americans. There will be vendors trying to sell you all kinds of little trinkets and stuff. A lot of the guys in the group figured out how to say "I don't want any, it's my time of the month" in Mandarin to joke around with the vendors.
If you go to the clubs, be careful about rushing up on the stages to dance and take pictures. We did this in one place in Xi'an and the guards tried to run us off the stage at first. We just kept getting up there and finally they just left us alone. The Chinese people started getting up on the stage with us to dance after that and we were taking pics. The guard confiscated our cameras and it took a 30 minute translation to get the cameras back. -
I forgot, we also saw an acrobatics show while in Beijing, which was pretty sweet.
Where else are you traveling to in China? -
There are some pretty nice western bar/clubs there, I cant for the life of me remember the names though, I will find out from my mother who lives there tonight what they were called. LOTS of smokin british/australian chicks though!

Yeah, a lot of Aussies studying there. The guys are hot and some of them came out to party with us, but they had B.O., which takes away from the "look."
Galap, I don't remember the name of the clubs in Beijing. What we did to find out where all the good clubs are was just ask. Our tour guides, our hotel people, cab drivers, then we'd take all the feedback and just select one. Also, we asked other students that had been there for longer or ex pats that we would run into. -
I'm desperately needing to kick it with some hot white women (australian, us, whatever). I'll also be heading to Hong Kong for a few days, then I'm going to Southern China. A place called Yangshuou. (www.yangshuomountainretreat.com) for some biking, hiking, cave spelunking, etc.

Sweet. Hope you have a great time! It was definitely one of my favorite trips ever. If you have any questions, just message me and let me know what you think when you're done. I love hearing that stuff.
