  1. Counting Crows imo imo imo imo imo imo imo
  2. lol @ counting crows.

it is one of these 6.

    - nirvana
    - smashing pumpkins
    - guns n roses
    - green day
    - pearl jam
    - red hot chili peppers

you could argue any one of these, based on personal taste, but i can't see it being any outside of these.

  5. mathclub has a good list, although I never really got into nirvana or guns n roses.
  6. lol the whole thign is based on personal taste wtf are you talking about

    edit: to mathclub ohv
  7. well whatever way you want to measure 'best', whether it's album sales, biggest concerts, most hits whatever, i can't see it being any band outside those 6.

green day probably isn't up wiht other 5 any way.

i don't even like gnr, but they were huge back in the day. i don't see how you can argue that any bad outside that 5 is serioulsy the 'best' band of the 90's.

fwiw nirvana, pumpkins or rhcp would be my personal choice.

  8. to not have alice in chains on that list is fucking stupid
  9. to even compare them to any of those top 5 bans is fucking stupid
    2
  10. Radiohead, Pavement
  11. to have alice in chains on that list is fucking stupid.

nirvana is gona win anyway lets just end this thread. fuck nirvana btw.
  12. sublime, tool or rage against the machine

    gtfo if u say otherwise
  13. yeah radiohead would be up there, but a lot of what they have done is late 90's and 2000's, that's why i didn't include them and foo fighters
    2
  14. yeah, all 3 of those crossed my mind. sublime is one of my favourite bands ever, but there's no way you can seriously argue that any of those 3 had the widespread popularity that the top 5 i mentioned had.

    imo

  15. mathclub your still missing the obv pantera....your list is bs...and to say that is the list and only the list makes you a felcher

  16. The Bends and OK Computer is enough imo, but i havent heard that much of the music by the bands you listed so perhaps i should do that
  17. no doubt pantera is better for me than half the bands in my list, but like tool etc i just don't think they the widespread appeal to compete with gnr etc in any sort of measure.

pantera 10million times better than gnr obv, but meh, lot's of downeys like gnr. what can you do?
    2
  18. really? wow, definitley download as much as you can then.

also faith no more, pennywise and sprung monkey are 3 more of my favourites from that era.
    2
  19. i guess i see what your sayin....you were listing the most popular to the massess...

edit: pantera saved heavy metal thoe. Thats why i think they are the best of the 90s and the best band ever for that matter

  20. Radiohead is the best band of this generation imo
  21. well ive heard pretty much all of Green Days stuff, which i like a lot and most of RHCPs music, but i dont really like them so much. and just random songs from the others
  22. I know they only had one awesome CD but....

Bush Sixteen Stone was fucking amazing
  23. for sure, that list is not my favourite bands, i fuckin hate g'n'r, but the thread was not called 'what's your favourite 90's band', it's who was the 'best'.

and like i keep saying, i can't think of any way to define 'best' that doesn't have one of those 5 (fuck green day) as the best from the 90's.

imo it was nirvana, cause they popularised a whole new style of music and took the industry in a whole new direction.

pantera would be in my top 10 of all time, maybe on borders of top 5.

funny thing, i hated danzig all through high-school (91-95) cause the guys who liked them were retards, and i just heard Mother by Danzig the other day, fucking loving danzig now, can't believe i shunned them for all these years just cause of those retards. pantera still better though. this love is one of my top 5 favourite songs of all time

  24. Belle & Sebastian and it's not even fuckin close
  25. I never thought about it like that but I do really like the Counting Crows. Sublime is also an excellent choice. Nirvana is up there for me as well. Mathclub I would have to disagree with your statement that the best 90's band HAS to come from your list of 6 bands. Granted, those 6 were all successful and you may personally feel that one of them was the best but that doesn't make it so. Everyone connects with music on a different level. Nirvana and RHCP are the only 2 bands on your list that I'm big on.
  26. OASIS

a band that spoke for a generation, created there own era (Brit Pop) and had an entire nation (if not continent) banging

    end thread /

  27. after a quick scan of my ipod here are a few other 90's bands I enjoy(ed) a lot... (note that I am not claiming any of these is "the best")

STP, Elliott Smith, Oasis, Matchbox 20, At the Drive In, Cake, DMB, Alkaline Trio, Fuel, Presidents of the United States of America, Semisonic, Radiohead
