Blue Streak, really? Is there a different one or are you talking about the movie with Martin Lawrence? You will have to explain your reasoning behind that choice.

What is the Limits of Control? I have never heard of that.

I saw Blue Streak for the first time on HBO a Residents Inn in Vermont before my cousins wedding. Didn't know what the movie was or even who Martin Lawrence was. Caught it from about 45 minutes in and watched it again the next day. It's one of the those that I sit down at any point during its runtime and enjoy. Is it a great movie? I won't try to convince anyone else of that. But somehow, for me, it's absolutely hilarious. I think I rented almost all of Lawrence's films after this and they were mostly abysmal. I saw Black Knight in theatres with my dad and we were the only two in the room.

I wrote a lot about Burn After Reading in this thread. I think it's really good.

The Limits of Control is Jim Jarmusch's newest film and is really good in general imo. His films are always have a comedic edge to them, but this one less so than others. They are funny, I think, in the way that Hal Hartley's films are or some of Wes Anderson's stuff.

The scene I speak of involves Tilda Swinton and is perfect on so many levels, but mostly because of how well integrated it is into the film.

No, you misread. Punch-Drunk Love is a great movie though. Like I said above, I won't try to convince you of Blue Streak, but I think it's hilarious. Meet the Parents is great, I should've put that on my list too.

  4. Just to clarify, Blue Streak was on of the first movies I ever owned. I think it is funny, but it generally fits in my more b tiered comedy section.

I feel like I must have missed something about Punch-Drunk Love. I hear people tout it all the time and I thought it was awful.

I feel like Role Models and Hangover get more love than they deserve right now. I have a feeling in 5-10 years nobody is going to care at all about Role Models (which I did laugh at) and people are going to classify Hangover like they do like a 40 Year Old Virgin- hillarious, but not quite like a top 3 or 5 comedy. I loved Hangover, don't get me wrong, but I can't tell you how many people were like, "funniest movie I have ever seen! Seriously best comedy of all time!" That I tend to disagree with.

    Office space as well.

Most of the other movies listed here are not in the top 50 (Zach and miri makes a porno? wtf?).

ummmm u obviously havent seen Zach and Mirri make a porno cuz thats hands down the funniest movie ive seen in 3 or 4 years.
  6. underappreciated comedies in my opinion (no where near top 5, but worth mentioning to c if you havent)

    nothing to lose
    the rundown
    without a paddle
  7. OT is awful.

So funny. To that tune I would add:

    Money Talks
    Cowboy Way
    Analyze This

Very well written post on Burn After Reading. I thought it was a pretty good movie and was shocked at how hated it was. Easily one of the most underrated (overhated is prob more accurate) movies of the last few years.

    I agree 100% with this.

And Nothing to Lose is probably Martin Lawrence's second finest film, lol.
