was having a discussion with a co-worker over the best defensive shortstops in the game and a scenario came up that say a free agent shortstop with a sick glove (jose reyes, how the discussion started) got picked up by another team with a sick glove at the position what would happen?

obv teams that are set at ss arent looking for another glove there but for the sake of argument what are your views on this?
scenario we had since we are rangers homers obv was reyes getting picked up by them, what would be the best result?
INF present:
1b- moreland/young
2b- kinsler
3b- beltre
ss- andrus
my ending result:
1b- moreland/young
2b- reyes
ss- andrus
3b- beltre
lf- kinsler
-dump endy/borbon josh to center nellie in right young obv still occupies dh
his result:
1b- young/napoli
2b- reyes
ss- andrus
3b- kinsler
dh- beltre
- dump moreland
this blew my mind, as i feel that beltre is a top 3 defensive third baseman and moving kinsler over there, while not crazy, just seems stupid. plus moreland has huge upside compared to other players the team could unload.
clearly this is an irrelevant argument as its never happening but the discussion was entertaining, thoughts?
say the rockies pick up reyes, what happens? -
i would think Reyes would go to a team that actually needs a SS.
-
jesus, did you even read it?
i stated that it was an irrelevant argument but an entertaining one, im just trying to get views on what people think on this scenario. b/c yes he would most likely go to a team that needed a ss, but he has great value as a leadoff hitter, so to infer a team that is set at ss but needs a leadoff hitter isnt looking at him is retarded. -
is this similar to the jeter arod situation except removed teh word best defensive shortstop?
-
of course i read it...ok, ill play along...The Rockies pick up Reyes, he moves to 2nd...you're right, that was entertaining

god, texas homers are the worst -
If the Rockies picked up Reyes, he would move to 2nd base.
The situation only changes when you have Captain America at SS for the Yankees. They traded for the best defensive SS in the game who was in the middle of a massive contract, and he was moved to 3B to appease the captain. -

asked for others idea's on similar hypothetical scenarios? -
In fact this already happened when the Mets signed slick-fielding Kaz Matsui many years ago. They moved the incumbent Reyes to 2B. The New York Mets, ladies and gentlemen.
