  1. Sry for the lame string. But I'm in the market to buy a new desktop. It will be mostly for poker. I'll play some games on it like sc2 etc. And i'll have office on it for school work etc. I want a pretty top of the line pc that will last me awhile and something I could easily upgrade in the future.

I have a Dell laptop right now and I've enjoyed it more than my Toshiba and Sony in the past. It has the 1920/1200 resolution which is obv a must (unless there is a better resolution out there now?) But, is something like Alienware better? Or another brand?

Also, I want to get duel monitors. Not sure what size, probably 24" unless there are better suggestions. On my laptop I feel most comfortable 9 tabeling, but I get 12-15 from time to time, and it's just too much with pokertracker.

I'm not sure my price range, maybe between $2.5-3.5k for the desktop, and maybe no more than $1500 for the monitors. Less is always better though :) Thx for any advice!

  2. I would go to Dell.com and build a computer, since you aren't on a budget and get everything you want. They also have 24's there.

  3. LOL you could spend 1500 and get everything you need including two monitors and spend the rest on hookers and blow. GL sick brag btw :)
  4. As far as getting the best computer, you're better off customizing it. If it is just for poker then really most major brands will be pretty similar, depends much more on the processor/ram in the system. I'd make sure, at a minimum that you get an i5 quad-core processor. With your price range, probably an i7, or AMD equivalent. Only monitors you will find >1900x1200 res will be the 28"+ which have a short lifetime and are too big to duel imo.

  5. lol at spending that much on a computer, a pre-made computer at that. I built my own gaming computer for $1200. If I bought an alienware with the same components it would probably be like $2.5k just for the name. Newegg.com ftw
  6. I have a 30 inch Samsung 305t that does 2560x1600 res, if you want to game with that it make sure the rest of your computer equip is top of the line. I use my laptop to run it dual monitor, then unhook it when I want to be mobile.

That sounds like a pretty sick monitor. I actually may just use my laptop as my dual monitor. That would help keep the cost down for sure. I'll probably go look at Dell and Alienware and compare prices. But if i can get it for under $1500 that would be ideal obv. But I always get the long term 4 year warranty with it which will cost a good $4-500. Def worth it though.

As far as I know you can not run Your laptop as JUST a monitor it has to be the main computer with a monitor hooked to it.

Someone correct me if I am wrong because I will hook my laptop up right now.
  9. You can pick which monitor serves as the "main", when you detach the laptop it auto detects it and puts it right.

Obv though you can't use it as 2nd monitor on a desktop system.

Yeah that is what I was getting at.
  11. id just go to dell or hp and build one with the fastest processor, and add the things u need. like im not gonna download a million things so i dont need alot of memory etc, so get the important stuff maxed out and do moderation on other stuff and u can get really tricked out one for about 3k. i built an alienware on dell cuz it had all the best options, but then went to hp and built the same one basically for like 1500 cheaper.

i have a dell 30 inch u can 9 table with barely overlap at without resizing tables, or u can get a samsung, or ive heard the mac 30 inch is good too. just make sure its 2560 x 1600. i used to have dual 20s but prefer one 30 better, im gonna get like a 22 or something to watch tv and surf web sometime soon
