    would be for the rest of the world not to hate us. How does spending more money on war and our borders help our safety if the entire world hates us they will find a way in. Clearly we need defense agency's in todays world, but couldnt we spend like 1% less on weapons and use it to regain some of the worlds respect through good deeds?

    Also, ive read plenty on the subject so please dont act like that book is the holy grail of foreign relations, but i will look into reading it.As for the "cure" being worse than the disease...

    We have had 9/11
    We have been in 2 "wars" in the last presidents reign
    We are hated by almost the entire world, we have even alienated most of our former allies by disregarding the U.N. recommendations
    Our economy is in the toilet
    We have one of the worst education systems in the world

    What would you suggest for fixing the problems our country has?
    Did i ever say i was going to vote for obama... no, but hope and change sure sounds like a cure that might help, at least more than "more o the same mccain"

    Dinesh offers a good perspective of America's image as he was not raised here. The planning for 9-11 was well in place long before bush stole the 2000 election. I'm not sure you recall but there was a randy dude named Bill Clinton in charge from 1992-2000. He pretty much french kissed every foreign leader going and we still took it straight up the A** all over the world. The war on terrorism has its origins in the Carter administration when we let the Shah of Iran get overthrown and then sat on our hands while they held our embassy personnel hostage.
