  1. Probably a repost but the Pebble thread got me thinking.

Best: La Costa Resort. Got to play all 36 back when the Match Play Championship was still played there. Just a perfect golf course(s) imo. Everything was in perfect condition, all brand new Titleists on the range, and I played great (back-to-back 84's). I've also played Torrey, but it was a LONG time ago, I was really young and tbh it wasn't in the best shape at the time.

Toughest: Bayonet Golf Course in Monterey. Pretty much every par 4 was like 450 and you had to hit a 270+ drive or you'd be blocked by a shit ton of trees on your approach. Tons of elevation changes and just a nightmare of a course. Runners up: TPC Nicklaus Course in Palm Springs, and anything designed by Pete Dye.
  2. La Costa just remodeled one of their courses, I think the north course, and I have a hook-up to get on for just a cart fee which is like $5. Been working on getting below 90 so I don't embarrass myself when I get out there.

  3. i dunno about the best, ive played a lot of decent courses in the south, mainly florida.

Toughest would have to be La Hinch in Ireland. Its right on the coast, we had like a 30+ mph win all fuckin day. I played pretty good for me(shoot in 80s, best round ever is 78) and i shot a 108 i think. One of the par threes was like 200 downhill but into a 35-40mph win, and i spanked a 3 iron like 15 feet away. Prob a top 5 shot in my life.

  4. IRL= TPC SAWGRASS- Par on 17..Highlight of my golf life!
    WGT= BETHPAGE BLACK-aal;kfjhlkasfhkldsg
  5. Best would probably be the twenty ten at Celtic manor. Was just awesome. Finished bogey-double to shoot 73 (2 over) prob played the round of my life and was gutted not to break par.

Toughest I don't know. Played a course in Egypt that was pretty redic but I can't remember the name. There is a course near where I live that isn't the toughest with no wind. But when the wind gets up it is close to unplayable because it gets so tough

Brabazon at the belfry is a pretty awesome course as well
  6. Played Olympic Club with my grandpa like 20 years ago and completely hacked it up. Thats probably the best & toughest course i've played.

Played Ka'anapali 2 weeks ago when I was in Maui and shot a 97 with rentals not having played in a year. Not my best score ever but the best I felt about a round in a long time.
  7. in ontario

-Hamilton GCC (ancaster) 1 week before canadian open
    -Angus glen
    -Cobble beach
  8. worst fun to play rtj. these track suck. jacks bears trace, are tons of fun.
  9. Just google Ko"olau in Oahu. Tiger (in his prime ) shot 73 one day & said he played well. I shot 99 as a 5 handicapper. Toughest by far. Pebble Beach was fun b/c it was in rain and right after AT&T and Whistling Straits tie for 2nd and 3rd. Best that most havent heard of is Circling Raven in Coeur da Lene (Worley), Idaho

  10. I caddied one summer at Oakmont, the year they hosted the Open. I played the course in Open conditions. When I hit it into the rough, I'd have to punch out sideways to the fairway with a wedge (and I was a ~5 handicap at the time). That shit was unreal.
  11. Not tough at all; but what a great day.

Wake up and play the Par 3 at Saratoga State Park. Watch Horseys work out; go have sick breakfast. Sometimes it's watch horseys, then go golf.

Not a bad start to the day. Either way.
  12. Best course and the hardest course are the same for me...

    Oak Valley in Beaumont California

I Shot wads everytime I played it because I dont drive it straight very often. It's one of those courses with no margin for error off the fairway so you lose like 17 balls per nine.

    Sick elevation, quite badass

    HM would be:

    -Wood Ranch (Simi Valley,Ca)
    -Steele Canyon (Jamul,Ca)
    -Ruffled Feathers (Lemont, Ill)

wow forgot about oak valley. def. the most balls i've ever lost in a round. borderline unfair. always wanted to play wood ranch but it's quite the drive and i don't have any reason to be out there other than to play. worth the 1.5 hour drive and price?

  14. hardest spyglass
    best pebble beach
  15. Toughest

    Pine Valley

    Honorable Mention: Pinehurst #2

    Best

    Pine Valley

    Honorable Mention: Muirfield Village

  16. I've played Pine Valley 6 times. Amazing course but not the hardest I've played. Kiawah Ocean course is by far the hardest course I've played. Trouble everywhere and it's always windy.
  17. Augusta National the best, 3 rounds plus par 3, stayed in the cabins.

Toughest 3 are probably Medinah Number 3, Winged Foot West and Southern Hills. Oak Tree GC is pretty damn tough also.

  18. Oak Hill East, covers both best and toughest for me.

"At the 2003 PGA, 96 of the top 100 ranked players in the world teed it up at Oak Hill, and only two – Chad Campbell and Tim Clark – managed to break par for the week. World No. 1 Tiger Woods said Oak Hill was the “hardest, fairest golf course we’ve ever played” and who could argue. He tied for 39th, Ernie Els tied for fifth, Phil Mickelson tied for 23rd and Vijay Singh tied for 34th."
  19. Toughest: Par 3 course next to Shea Stadium (now Citi Field)
    - beer cart drives around with $2 tallboys
    - obstructions include bottles, huge divots the size of car tires, car tires, people pissing into the bushes just off the "fairway", people in the group behind yelling for you to 'hurry the fuck up' on your backswing, cigarette butts on the putting green.

    Easiest: see above
    Best: see above
    Worst: see above
  20. nice to see some Pine Valley brags

and my family have been members of Oakmont since it opened.

    but i suck at golf

  21. Vineterra Winery and Golf Club in New Kent, VA

Its been rated the hardest course in the state, and my brother-in-law is the General Manager and Director of Golf there. Love that I get to play it for free too! lol
  22. man some OTers have it good...I would kill to play some of the courses mentioned ITT. I haven't really played a course that I would consider much tough than others...probably Tierra del Sol on a really windy day would be my toughest.

Best is this course: nothing to fancy but it is extremely well designed

    http://www.oobgolf.com/courses/cours...De_Cajica.html
  23. lot of decent courses in my area that can range from playable to ridiculous depending on what tees you play from.

Heron Point - not bad from the whites but stupid hard from the back tees
    Glen Abbey - same
    Angus Glen - same
    Rattlesnake Point - same

Kings Forest is a municipal course that doesn't get the credit it deserves. Designed for CDN tour and amateur tournies is ridiculously hard from the back tees.
  24. Depends on what we consider "Best". Does best mean the most famous or the most expensive?

In terms of toughest, I could narrow it down to the Ohio State Scarlet Course and the Univ South Carolina Course (Cobblestone GC).
  25. Best: Pebble Beach

Hardest: Both Olympic Club and Harding Park which are next to each other were brutal for me. I did shoot low 80's at Pebble tho. Harding Park was freezing tho and it was my first round of the year, so it might not be that tough on a warm summer day.
  26. I played at the Koolau golf course in Maui.

It was at the time considered the hardest course in the states. 152 slope rating.

Believe I shot a 124 and lost about 8 balls.

Ruffled Feathers! That shit was fun. Tough Pete Dye designed course in Illinois.

I think I agree with Oak Valley. I played the Torrey Pines North course once but haven't played the longer tougher South although I caddied it multiple times in the Buick Invitational Pro-Am.

I'm still trying to decide where I'm gonna play tomorrow.
  28. Ruffled is fun but a little gimmicky. Some local knowledge goes a LONG way in playing that course more strategically-sound.
  29. Best for me was Bigwin Island in cottage country in Ontario it's so sick you gotta ferry out to it and I seen more deer in that 18 than I've seen the rest of my life. Going private soon so if any of you Ontario boys get a chance it's worth every penny

Toughest is a Nick Faldo designed course called "The Rock" and it's built on the Canadian escarpment and it was very well named tonnes of massive rocks everywhere and a killer design. They have since made it easier but fuck me it was tough when I played it
  30. Best and toughest for me: Sahalee CC, WA Jr State Championship

Awesome course, but I played like shit that day. Freddy was there though, so it was an awesome experience. I'd love to play it again before I get too old and give out.

Planning to make a Euro golf trip next year. Any of you who have played over there please feel free to post recommendations, or pm me!
