With draft day coming up I was trying to think of what the best and worst case outcome could be for the Browns next year. Since I'm not Miss Cleo I'm of course guessing on the draft picks. What are your thoughts on my predictions. Also, would love to hear the best/worst for your team.
Best case scenario:
1st round pick Joe Thomas and prized free agent pickup Eric Steinbach team with Lecharles Bentley, Ryan Tucker and Kelly Butler to pave the way for Jamal Lewis and 2nd round pick Michael Bush, who combine run for nearly 2000 yards. With a now solid ground game, Derrick Anderson turns in a solid, workmanlike season, ala Phil Simms, posting over 3000 yards passing and 20 TDs with 12 Ints. Braylen Edwards finally grows up and teams with Joe Jurevicius, Kellen Winslow and Steve Heiden for a solid, sometimes explosive receiving corp.
Now spending far less time on the filed, the defense builds on last years performance and ends up in the top 10 in nearly every catagory. Inside Linebackers Jackson and Davis each post 100 tackles and last year's number one pick, Kameron Wimbley makes the pro bowl with 14 sacks. While a weak spot the Defensive line improves a bit against the run due to Robaire Smith. The secondary is led by 1st time pro bowler Sean Jones and a now healthy Leigh Bodden and Gary Baxter return to form.
While they still have a ways to go to catch the elite teams in the AFC, Cleveland grinds out 9 wins on the strength of their running game and D.
Worst Case Scenario:
The Browns take one of the stud QBs with the 1st pick dividing the locker room and announce they will start from day one. Jamal Lewis fails to recapture his old form and reminds everyone of last years starter, Rueben Droughns, failing to eclipse the 1000 yard mark. Lecharles Bentley and Ryan Tucker are again unable to play and the line is again undermanned and a huge weak spot. The rookie QB is beaten into submission by the pass rush and gets in a fist fight on the sidelines with Braylen Edwards following the 4th Int against the Steelers. Kellen Winslow again is forced to go on IR and may retire due to lingering knee problems.
Forced to carry the load again the D breaks down and ends up near the bottom of the NFL in rushing yardage. Baxter and Bodden are not able to do much because of lingering injury. Mcginnist and Washington age rapidly and are liabilities.
Another lost season and the Browns finish 3-13. The entire coaching staff and front office is fired following a season ending 42-0 cornholing at the hands of the playoff bound 49ers. -
Reality: Standard 5-11 season. GG.
-
I gotta respect somebody who sticks it out with such a POS franchise.

ATL Falcons:
Best case:
Trade their 1st and 2nd round picks to move up 5 spots(Browns) maybe throw in a solid playa or another pick(#3or 4)if need be and snatch Calvin Johnson. Get the best available OT or DE in the 2nd rd. Have a solid draft on top of that. Vick plays great with better WR's and a little more protection, Norwood has a huge year splitting time with Dunn. The WR's catch balls, the OT does a better job in pass protection and the standard solid job in run blocking.
John Abraham stays healthy, is the anchor on D. Rod Coleman has a career year as a result of only getting blocked by a guard almost every down. The LB's play out of the world, Brooking is standard solid, Boley has a breakout year, D-MVP type shit, and D-Williams does what he has done his whole career, play good solid football. Jimmy Williams finally realises his potential, D-Hall has a probowl year, Lawyer Milloy does what he's always done, Crocker stays healthy.
Worst Case:
Vick gets hurt or plays like shit. The O-line plays like shit. The WR's drop passes like acid. Norwood gets hurt, Dunn joins the peace corps. mid season. The falcons draft another problematic WR or CB in the first rd. Alge Crumpler doesn't bounce back from a mediocre year last season.
Abraham gets injured, Grady Jackson eats Rod Coleman. Brooking tries to become a pass rusher, D-Williams gets benched again, Boley gets hurt. D-Hall plays like shit all year, Jimmy Williams robs a Waffle House. Lawyer Milloy retires. -
playoff bound 49ers. It has a nice ring.
-
The Browns are looking at 0-6 in division, they picked up a washed up Jamal Lewis I guess.

RAVENS:
Best Case
Ozzie Newsome and Brian Billick have another great draft and strengthen the team in all areas. This is really a given as I think (biased I know) the Ravens are the best drafters in the NFL.
Ray Lewis stays healthy and continues to play at a very high level, Ed Reed plays like Ed Reed and we replace Samari Rolle. The fringe players / draft picks step up and show that Adalius Thomas wont be such a massive loss (this may be stretching optimism too far!).
Willis MacGahee proves to be a durable runner who can go for 1,500 yards plus, taking some of the reliance away from Steve McNair. Steve McNair performs to a consistent level and has more big game performances as against the Chargers rather than as he did against the Broncos or Colts last year.
Brian Billick gets a bit more open with the play calling.
Worst Case:
We draft like a bunch of amateurs (highly unlikely).
Ray Lewis' performances drop off / he gets hutr and the loss of Adalius Thomas is evident for all to see (really worried this may happen). Samari Rolle continues to play.
MacGahee goes down early or struggles to mesh with an OL that has been focussed on a power running game for so long.
Steve McNair's performances drop off / or he plays like he did against the Colts.
Jonathan Ogden retires (vvv likely), which will hurt the running game even more.
Overall I think the best we can do is similar to last season and even winning the Superbowl, although this is unlikely as we really are probably slightly weaker than last year all told, whilst others (noteably the Pats) have increased noticeably.
Worst case scenario would be 8-8 / 9-7 and missing the playoffs. We have too good a squad to be any worse than .500 next year unless we really get shafted with injuries (very worried about Boller if McNair goes down for any length of time). -
SD Chargers
Best Case:
win super bowl
Worst Case:
lose in afc championship to the god damn patriots and i hunt down and murder tom brady then go to jail for life -
well then its a repeat of last season. god i hate being a browns fan
-
why dont browns fans want to draft adrian peterson?
he is prolly the player that will have the greatest immediate impact for any team. best running back to come out in a few years -
our offensive line is the worst line ever invented. so he wont be much help to us
-
some of your line was injured last year so you will get some guys back and quality lineman can be found in the 2nd and 3rd round.
this guy looks like a qulaity everydown back for the next 10 years -
I really hope the Falcons trade up with the Browns so they can snatch Calvin Johnson
-
we suck at drafting and would never pick a good player. that is all
-
-
SD might get in as a wildcard this year, but SFobv that KC's winning it all (west, conf, SB).
*Edit: Worst case: They don't do it undefeated. -
Detroit Lions
Best case: Matt Millen dies and Barry Sanders comes out of retirement and plays for another 10 years
Worst case: Matt Millen Lives and drafts another god damn WR that is either too fat, too slow, or too fucking high to do anything in the NFL -
denver broncos best case: win super bowl against standard sacrificial nfc lamb...(after beating san diego in afc championship to get there.) denver broncos worst case: jay cutler gets hurt. season over. as a result lose to kc twice instead of beating them twice. also lose to raiders twice instead of beating them 33-0 twice. thanks a lot cutler. way to go oline! oh hi der #1 pick in draft.
-
I'd personally be happy with Peterson, however I think they can get a solid RB a little later in the draft. I'm not counting on anything special from Jamal Lewis, but I have my fingers crossed.
I just don't want to see them draft a QB with the 1st round pick as he'll probably just be smashed to goo and I Fking hate hate hate hate hate Notre Dame so It would be tough to root for Quinn. -

Lol, the Browns luck continues...... Their prized free agent had his appendix removed. No big deal there, however the inevitable staph infection that will sideline him for the 1st 8 games will be. -
Eagles best case scenario:
After Charlie Manuel gets fired on Monday, Andy Reid leaves the team as a "sympathy retirement". The next day, Bill Parcells lobbies for the Eagles job, and is hired on Wednesday.
Worst case scenario:
Down by a score late in a Divisional Round playoff game versus the New Orleans Saints, the Eagles find themselves with a 4th-and-15 at midfield. Ignoring what human beings who speak the English language have come to call "all manner of logic and common sense", Andy Reid decides to punt.
Oh, wait, that already happened. -
Best Case:
OBS its the SUPER BOWL and also Samuel stays and gets a long term contract
Worst Case:
No Super Bowl
Brady get seriously hurt(would consider suicide)
Samuel gets traded/sits out
Also, Pats are very quiet about the draft this year. They have 2 1st rd picks (23rd and 29th I believe) and there are rumors that they might trade one of the picks for a 1st rounder next year. But I would like to see them get a LB like Willis (ole miss) or that Polish guy from Penn St and/or get that Safety from Florida -
Packers.
Best Case Brett stays healthy all year and has the best statistical year of his career. Because of a lack of a solid running game the Pack will be forced to air it out alot and will have 3 1000 yard receivers with Jennings Driver and Moss. Defense improves and GB goes 9-7 and makes the Wild Card.
Worst Case. Favre finally gets hurt and GB is forced to play Aaron Rodgers. The trade for Randy Moss will be a failure as he immediatly starts complaining about being the 3rd receiver and not getting the ball enough. Defense wears down from being on the field too much and GB goes 5-11. A liquored up Favre announces his retirement on the last Monday Night Football telecast of the year and then askes Suzy Kolber if she wants to shag in the locker room.
