Amartin Stillmatic wasnt good?
The fuck? -
OT needs a good rap war - these threads gotta happen every five months or so, ten months. Helps to get rid of the bad blood. Been ten months since the last one. You know, you gotta stop them at the beginning. Like they should have stopped Hitler at Munich, they should never let him get away with that, they was just asking for trouble.
say what now cockbreath? -
Redman: WuTang member or no?

Edited By: voorh33s Nov 22nd, 2011 at 08:13 PMYou realize he still does this right? I don't even pay much attention to his carter cd's, all about his mixtapes tho.Originally Posted by JaySpo

When he was with squad up in the early 2000's he'd put out a new mixtape like every month freestyling over whatever song was hot at that time and it was 300% better than anything he does now. I think his stuff from just those days at least puts him up into the conversation of one of the best lyricists.
I disagree with your first paragraph but I get where you're coming from, I know a ton of old wayne lovers/new wayne haters but imo he didn't elevate til dedication 2 and the drought 3 which was 2006ish I believe. That's pretty much when his new style started with the quirky metaphors and similes and whatnot. Ya know, the same style that half the rappers out today try to copy. Before this he was just another generic "wanna be gangster" rapper and was boring as fuck imo.
And to amartini, nas's best song is one mic and it's from stillmatic and that's 2001 I think. Agreed that he has been trash for a long time now though, took himself outta the conversation. -
no, he is in def squad

I did listen to the dedication mixtapes and the drought 3 but I think soon after that is when I lost interest in him and hip hop as a whole. I thought that was around the same time as the Carter II anyway? i just remember them all being in my early college years.
But yes you're right he was good on those as well and I still have them on my iTunes. The Carter III wasn't really that good and I stopped listening after that. I still don't hate on him thought because I think pretty much the entire hip hop genre went to shit around the same time so it's not his fault, he just went with the direction of the industry. -
Honorary member imo, and odb>busta rhymes

Edited By: MissBecky Nov 22nd, 2011 at 08:52 PMi'm not saying wayne sucks or anything or that it's a bad comparison (i'll admit, i don't know/listen to wayne's music like i do tupac) but from what little i have heard from wayne, i choose tupac hands down.Originally Posted by setherson2

Also curious how much Lil Wayne the ainec'ers have listened too.
you should also know, i love tupac. not just his music. i love him. i've watched every documentary there is about him. so, yeah, i'm kinda biased. ;)
Reason: you're just working with the scraps you were given....and mama made miracles every thanksgiving. -
New York is the SEC of the rap game - erryone else wil bruvuh
Not at all disagreeing that 2Pac is better than Wayne; just that Weezy takes a bit too much criticism.
And you can argue 2pac/Nas, but I'd flip Eminem and Wayne in your timeline
yeah he towers over 2Pac lyrically -
I Agree. Long before I heard ;

"I bomb atomically,

Can't define how I be droppin these mockeries

Still, Wayne's entertainment value is under-appreciated by 'purists'. -
