  1. Im sitting here watching national geographic channel and they are talking about the book of revolations written by John. It was written at the end of the first century, new testament obviously. My question why is the book of revolations the last thing in the bible, how come there is nothin new added to the bible. Werent the books in the bible written for the time that they were in. Times change, people change. The bible was an ever changin book with new things added when it forst came to be. But now there is nothin added even though times have changed and so have people.

On that note is even possible to form a new religion in this day n age. Or are we stuck with Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hindu, Buddahiam, etc. All these religions are so very very old. Or would you be considered a crazy fuck and be killed like all the the people who formed and fought for those religions thousands of yrs ago?
  2. work of fiction, choda boy

    I didn't read the post
  3. The Bible is probably the best book written of all time.

  4. yup best work of fiction ever written
  5. I heard the Pope just edited out purgatory from Catholicism.
  6. Whether you think it's fiction or not, it's still a great book.

  7. 1. the Bible doesn't teach that it has been changed or adapted. it says that nothing is to be taken or added from it.

    2. the reason nothing follows Revelations is that it is a description of the end of the Earth.

    3. Scientology and many other religions have been created in the last hundred years.

ps. hopefully you don't view the Constitution with the same abysmal negotiability as you do the Bible. the fluidity of both comes not from their ability to be changed, but from the constant that is able to encompass novel ideas.
  8. non fiction
  9. be real hillbilly unless you can prove it happened other than by saying "faith" then it is fiction
  10. Oh boy.

  11. loooolllll at non fiction

    cmon now Slugger...

  12. I mean Joseph smith created this morman religion during the 1800s, so going along with LDMs point 3 yeah new religions are always going to be created.

    Dum dum dum dum dum.

  13. the authors of the constitution realized that times would change drastically, and had the foresight to include the ability to amend it later on. unfortunately the authors of the bible lacked this foresight. so here i sit in 2007, unable to buy beer at the gas station on sunday because of other people's beliefs. oh my frickin head.
  14. yaaaaa another bible fight!!!! woohoooooooo
  15. the bible doesn't forbid buying/selling alcohol. men who abuse the power of gov't banned it.

Jesus' first miracle was turning water into wine, so you have to know where he stands on the issue
  16. mohammed flew to heaven on a winged horse. his miracle > water into wine.
  17. they are both bullshit made up lies, and jesus' conception was immaculate right? Why couldn't joseph knocked up mary and they made up a bullshit story to pass off on retarded people 2000 years ago. Bet they didn't think people would let that shit hold water this long into the future.
  18. The Constitution sets forth principles for a national government, founded on certain ideas and beliefs. In fact, it even makes room for the possiblity that people will have many different religious beliefs and even attempts to protect an individual's right to have a non governement approved religious belief.

It does not purport to set forth the one and only truth about how and why things are the way they are. It also recognizes that the world does change and make allowances for the document to change as well, according to the will of the people, not the powerful.
  19. Bible is obv fiction.
  20. ded jeezis rit tha cawnstutooshin?
  21. Popcorn?
  22. I dont know a whole alot about the bible as a whole, but I do know that it was written to either put fear into people or to give people hope. Im pretty sure it wasnt written to be a fluid document. It is what it is and give a base of ideas to a certain group of people.

  23. It's the prankster's Bible.
  24. 2
  25. As I think about it, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights attempt to provide people with the freedom to act as individuals, controlling their own destiny through their own free actions. Whereas, the Bible attempts to control an individual's thoughts and behavior in order to conform to certain predetermined rules, all through the threat of eternal damnation or the promise of a trip to the promised land.

The problem for me arises when the religious men impose their beliefs on the government, which in turn imposes restrictions consistent with those beliefs on my individual freedoms and liberties. Since they cannot control my beliefs with threats of eternal damnation they go to my government and attempt to control my behavior with threats of fines and prison instead.

I have grown acustomed to and enjoy immensely my individual freedoms and liberties and I tend to become extremely annoyed and agitated when the government makes it more difficult for me to play online poker, among other things, because of someone's religious beliefs.
  26. Metaphorically speaking
