I guess this is just my opinion, but it seems pretty universal for profitable mtt players.

Truth teller. Go get that has been.

where did he say to fold 5 orbits with 12 bbs? why are you acting like SCT doesn't know poker or hasn't adapted? hilarious.

"But you are right. If you can predict the future and have 100% certainty you will not find better than 30-40% equity for all your chips in ~5+ orbits then run it as a 2-1 dog all day with 15 bbs. "

Unless this was a level/joke by him...?

dude he is saying that if you have 15bb's and you know you are about a 30% favorite then you should fold because you are almost certainly going to find a better spot and that only with hindsight after going about 5 orbits and not finding a better spot would it have better to get it in as a huge dog earlier.

plus his logic is not wrong. in fact, he doesn't even has his own logic, he has his reasoning which can be based out of logic. also, his reasoning is not wrong.

I honestly don't even know how to respond. WTF will we know we are 30% "favorite"??? Pretty sure I'm just getting owned at this point. I hope...

you can start by running stove calculations for your hand and the calling ranges of the remaining players left in the hand. there are going to be definitive spots and definitive ranges that will yield a negative expectation when you (re) shove.

we don't know what hands phil open folded so we can't say for sure whether or not he made the correct decision. all we do know is that phil had the exact worse seat at the table and was dealt worse starting hands than any other player at the table.

What we are trying to say is that you can't say that phil necessarily waited too long to get his chips in, when he had 10bb's and A10s, simply by looking at his stack size and the fact he folded hands preflop. It is possible that it was the best decision.

  10. LOL I'd like to see the calling ranges that we are shoving 15bb into which yields us 30% equity when we shove Ax+ k9+ 22+ qt+ from the hj. Whatever that calling range is, we're not gonna have to worry about running into it nearly enough to fold.
Anyways my original point was that the value in having more chips and knowing how to use them>>> the risk of getting them in the middle and getting called and losing.
  11. do we even know how many hands phiil was actually dealt from the c/o to the sb where it folded to him when he had 12-15bb's? I am guessing it is not that many but you guys seem to think it was like 30+ hands

  12. do you guys think you'd be better or worse at poker if your dick were 2 inches bigger. #OTSTYLE

    smaller?
  13. Jesus fucking Christ at people still arguing about how Phil plays. YOU CANT FUCKING GET HIS STYLE WITHOUT WHITE MAGIC!

FFS. You're in the wrong box without white magic

    bigger: worse
    smaller: the same
  15. Between the 2nd place guy getting apparently beaten by 6 Hello Kitty fans, and everyone getting mad bro over a comment made by a player in response to a better known player, and that lesser known player having the sack to dig in & not back down to the mob, this is suddenly becoming one of the best poker threads in memory.

    ^ fucking long sentence.

Did you berate him by saying 'honey, I have A-10, and the donk wakes up with kings'? If yes, then the fold was fine

  29. Watching "top players" (amateurs too) hate on Hellmuth is so damn entertaining. Shipped a bracelet this year, finished 5th in the 10k horse and 4th in the one drop. Three 2nd place finishes last year including the 50k players championship. He just can't adapt to the young competition. The game has passed him by.

Guys look as retarded as the idiots who hate on Kobe saying his shot selection is awful.

(didn't read this thread besides last two pages. Have read threads in past and heard several people in Vegas saying how awful Hellmuth is)
