This struck me as one of the most idiotic comments of a lot of idiotic comments he has made. Going for it on 4th and 2 is the exact opposite of calling off your stack with a flush draw...in fact, as we know, in poker, there are many times where you have to be aggresive with draws and especially against player that are as good or better than you, you have to be aggresive with draws "go for it on 4th and 2" when the opportunity presents itself to finish the game.

Listening to him and Cousin Sal talk statistics is laughable and leads me to think he probably loses a lot of money gambling if he has trouble grasping pretty simple game theory ideas.

Exactly. I was going to mention this earlier. His poker observations/assumptions, especially when he had Norm Chad on the show, are laughable. He pretty much belittles all poker players (except Ivey), while acting like he knows his way around a card table. Keep in mind that Simmons played in the Main Event and busted on day one, and is most likely bitter.

I remember when hold 'em first became popular and Simmons used an analogy with "more overrated than an Ace with a five in texas hold 'em". The man is clueless in that regard as well

2. I agree with Simmons not being a true NFL guru. That being said, he's still the man.

His signing for me and my bro today in Denver:

"To FK and bro, my two favorite spelling readers.

I still hate Duke. Just kidding."

haha so awesome
3. I didn't read the article and the 3 TD drives in the fourth argument is one of the dumber things I've heard, but in his defense, his column is mostly schtick.* Even if he does in depth, statistical analysis of each game (I don't think he does this, but he probably does more than he leads on) he can't really include that in his column. It's more of a humor piece than anything so his analysis is going to lean more towards ricky williams smoking weed jokes than matt ryan's success against 3-4 defenses.

drew magary is the only thing worth reading on deadspin. I enjoyed will leitch's 10 humans, or whatever it was called, column that he had there every week, but they seem to have stopped that.

*this is the most annoying thing about simmons. That his column is written for entertainment is undeniable, yet in different situations he will either be offended by this or he will proclaim it himself and laugh off criticisms.
4. Simmons wasn't protesting math, he was pointing out the limitations of using statistics to compare situations that aren't always the same. he didn't say it would be easy to stop peyton from going 70 yards just that it would be easier than stoping him from 30

if this isn't a level, i'm gonna have to request that you switch to the Democratic party...
