Mets and Braves are both good teams, and they were obv 11-1 before getting swept by Pitts so how is that close to relevant to what I said?

Toronto is in the toughest division in baseball and has yet to play vs anyone from their division. Washington sucks, but Toronto has had a much easier part of their schedule to start off.
  12. fk all the haters in this thread

    goooooooooo jays

  13. Nice work in April fellas, I'll bookmark this thread for August when you guys are whining about inevitable injuries to fragile pitching staff and inequality in payrolls.

PS- Doc Halladay owns but they still don't win 90 games
  14. their whole staff is already injured anyway
     1
  15. nah i never whine about payroll. the jays spend a lot more now then recent years ago. at least they are giving themselves a bit of a chance.
the wildcard is going to the AL east anyways, so why can't it be the jays this year.

and yes we have been in the spot before and the yanks and sox dominated us late in the year to pull away.

The Mets need another starter or two before they can be considered a significant threat in the East IMO. Their lineup is potent, and they fixed their biggest problem from last year (bullpen), but they have a number 1, a number 3, a mega head case, and two number 6's in their rotation.

I think they'll make a deal before August rolls around and that will help them.

Also, Murphy needs to get better in the outfield and surely he will but the mistakes he's been making this year have been critical.
  17. lol, I love how everyone has jumped ship on the Mets SP already 3 turns thru the rotation, and 2 of them are hurt...

yea, the Mets as is are not a "threat" in the east... lmfao

we have played 15 games, and played them like shit, and are 6-9... most of them have been on the road too... Philly is 6-8, Florida WILL fade...

just because your Cards just swept them, doesn't mean you can bury them... that is so dumb

  18. the mets are a threat, and will win the NL east. afterall they get to face the marlins and nationals another 10 times each

  19. Toronto will be right up there until August. And not cause they will choke, look at their schedule for August

    consecutive series

    3 @ NY
    3 @ TB
    3 vs Bos
    3 vs LAA
    3 vs TB
    3 @ Bos

    Thats fucking nasty.
  20. this thread. Obv the Indians>>>>>everyone else in the AL and will ultimately win the WS. Just ask John Kruk. lol.

srly if you think you can tell which teams are going to win divisions and contend for a WS after only like 15 games, you're a moron homer. Eat a bullet OP.

My Cards sweeping them has nothing to do with what I said. My team has their own holes. My feeling on the Mets isn't based off of the first 15 games either, I fealt this way before the season started. It's based off of the Mets starting rotation.

Maybe me saying they're not a threat is going a little overboard. Obv they have a shot and winning the east because their lineup is so strong, and their bullpen is good, and most of the teams in the East each have problems in one way or another. I just wouldn't bet on them to win with the rotation that they have.

Santana - Stud without a doubt.
Maine - Probably a number 3 when on.
Perez - Freaking head case who has had all the talent in the world forever but can't put it together, and you never know what you're going to get.
Pelfrey- Hasn't lived up to his potential. Puts way to many runners on base.
Hernandez - Can't believe he is even still in the league.

If they upgraded their rotation they could be one of the favorites in the NL but they threw way too much money at head case Perez, and needed to add another. I think they will by the deadline.

I still see the Mets as the best team in the division, but again I think it should be close. I don't think the Marlins are going to fade out anytime soon, they probably have the best rotation of the relevant teams. I think the Phillies are screwed, seems like this is the year Hamels won't be able to pitch the max innings and if he can't they have no shot.
  23. by fade, I meant not likely to go 11-4 in anymore 15 game stretches, and will be closer to a +.500ish team IMO and not .600ish... Marlins are legit, but not this good

lol if this was true. analyst eveywhere would be out of work until sept. so f u

the whole point of the season is to get behind your team and hope they do well. im not saying the jays win the WS im not an idiot. but i do hope and think they will get into the AL wildcard.

sf this, jp go after a starting pitcher plzzzzzzzzzzz. look how much depth we have but there all injured.

the bats are fking insane right now

, 01 mariners, 05 white sox and the 09 blue jays are the only ever teams to start a season with 5 series wins. sox won the ws if i remember correct and the mariners won like 115 games

  26. and everyone saying this jays teams is just fluking out a start, plz keep this in mind.

Since cito gaston took over midway thru last season, we are 64-41, the best record in MLB. this lineup has always had great potential, and they're finally realizing with the new manager and hitting coach, being more aggresive has been the key something u never saw under gibbons, who the players did not try for, unlike cito.

just sigh at the injuries to our arms, if we dont win this year, 2010 will be the year.

GO JAYS GO CLAPCLAPCLAP GO JAYS GO

Pelfrey- Hasn't lived up to his potential. Puts way to many runners on base. his WHIP is too high fasho, but had a sick 2nd half last year after a rough start, and is pitching with a stiff/tired forearm right now, I can see him going on the DL for a bit and coming back strong, or pitching thru it - he is a good pitcher
Hernandez - Can't believe he is even still in the league. lol me either, but if we can learn to yank him after 4 or 5, he can be effective - but I expect us to make a move here, or bring up Niese or someone, I haven't really paid attention to who is pitching well in minors yet

the Mets are still most people/expert/book's favorites to win the NL, even with the slow start... Perez will have his bad starts, but he also dominates at times - I wish we signed Lowe instead, but there is no salary cap so I don't really care how much we paid him... yes, I think we will make a move too
