there is an issue with my desktop that every time i turn on the computer a blue screen comes up, either immediately or after 1-3 minutes, that says there is a problem with the computer and it must restart to prevent damage from happening to the computer or something. i did some research that told me that it is a common problem and is not a virus but is either a hardware or software problem. i uninstalled most of the unneccessary applications and recent downloads but the problem persists. does anyone have any experience with this or have any idea how i can fix it?

operating system and computer specs plus the error message, does it say something about memory or anything specific?
-
Says something like "memory dump" or similar.

post the numbers given on the blue screen

usually a hardware issue, if its doesnt go away by reinstalling your OS, you may have to take it to someone to diagnosis the harware issue. sorry, I feel your pain, nothing worse thaan a comp that isnt working.
