  1. Looks like he is the bookies favorite to take over at the mighty VILLA, not sure how i feel about this as only seen him in the world cup games, our previous manager was top class so I thought we could get a bigger profile manager but with our american connections this is possible.

Would he really leave the USA job?
  2. if he does go to villa i wouldn't be suprsied if he is unemployed this time next year
  3. I understood that it wasn't so much him leaving, as they might not ask him back.
  4. Bill Brasky > Bob Bradley

  5. I dont think he could adjust to the premier league schedule ,not enough experience right now, but think he could do good down the road.I would like to see his son at villa park.Martin o'neil really fucked villa over leaving 5 days before the season starts.

i dont think its about him leaving, i think USA is gonna end up letting him go before the 2012 olympics. well before actually. i think he's a good coach, maybe the bookies know more than i do tho
  7. If he was able to get the job, he would go. It would be such an amazing step for american soccer if we had an american manager in charge of one of the top 10 teams in the prem. If he gets offered the position, he has to go for US Soccer.

They want Klinsmann to take over the national team anyway, and its not often you have a coach make two successive world cup cycles, thats 8 years at one position which is relatively unusual since your building for one tournament and only one team is ultimately gonna be happy.

    Reasons he may succeed:
    -Hes good
-Villa are American owned, thus they might have a little more patience

    Reasons he may not succeed:
-He would be taking the job days before the season starts, or perhaps after the season starts

-The English media would be all over him at the slightest signs of trouble. Villa have been a very good side for the past 3 years, but the reality is that they are a selling club and not a buying club. They're going to sell James Milner, they're going to sell Ashley young, and its going to be on bradley to buy cheaper players with those funds to fill the gaps. Its going to be hard for him to plug those holes, not really having much experience with the club. Villa are probably going to be a mid table team, and its going to be very difficult for him to get as much out of the team as O'Neil did.

  8. LOL at the mighty Villa
They have an idiot for an owner he wouldn't give Martin money to replace milner and I'm sure that wasn't the only reason he left

He's easily top 10 managers in the world and in my top 5 I only hope he's available when fergie steps down.
Maybe take over the n.Ireland job for now?

I came in to say pretty much this

  10. MON leaving is a shocker

They were struggling around 12th - 14th when he arrived and he made them into a decent CL place challenging side despite not being supported properly by Lerner

I hope this isn't the case but I fear this may have been a step to far for o'neil, he pretty much was resigned to the fact that milner was going but if in the meeting lerner told him they are also willing to let young go then that could have been why o'neil left this close to the start of the season.

I disagree we are a selling club, but the fact is we get the best out of players and other managers notice them, every player has a price.

MON obviously had some sort of falling out with the powers that be... like I said, Villa has turned into a selling club. They're not going to challenge for the title or the top 4 even with Young or Milner in the squad, so why not take the 40 million, buy a few less expensive players and make a profit? It makes perfect business sense, but for a manager that wants to compete, who wants to build, I can imagine it would be horribly frustrating. He wanted to be able to spend the money they got for the upcoming transfers and the front office wasn't going to let him. Villa still have a club that can finish in the top half of the league without Milner and Young and they can still challenge for a Europa league spot.

i think this sums it up. they are not going to challenge for 4th spot any time soon. they are at best the 7th best side in the league. assuming they can get replacements for milner and young that are less expensive and not that much worse then this isnt really going to change. everton may be ahead of them but they still have a very good chance of securing european football. The amounts that milner and young will go for are pretty rediculous for players that are far from world class and are too much for villa to turn down.
  14. How can you not cash in on those players. Anyone that wants to pay that amount of money, please let them. The english media has talked up their value so much, its truly insane.

Also, the league is so biased when it comes to awards...

    Player A. Age 24 - 7 goals 12 assists in 09-10
    Player B. Age 22 - 15 goals 12 assists in 09-10

both are midfielders, but who wins the 'young player of the year' award? Player A does because hes English.

    Player A. 32 games, 26 goals 3 assists in 09-10
    Player B. 31 games, 29 goals 10 assists in 09-10

Who wins the Player of the Year award? Player A does. because hes English.... the levels of bias are truly astonishing.

  15. to be fair it is voted for by the players. and rooney was better than drogba despite what the stats may say.

who is the first one? fabregas?

  16. speaking of
    soccer what channel
is Italy IC on..I know I can stream but wud rather watch on tv

and u think player a was milner
  17. yeh i know player a was milner but just wondering who the other one was. rooney was also nominated for young player of the year. not sure how he could win player of the year and not win young player
  18. The second one was Fabregas.

I don't have much problem with Rooney winning the player of the year award, but its still telling that Drogba had 3 more goals, and 7 more assists and still lost. If it was 'most valuable' I'd say Rooney wins going away since he carried United all of last season, but player of the year has to have some base in the stats.

Learner gave O'neil plenty of money over the last four years.Martin Oneil did not rotate the squad and used the least amount of players in the premier league,at the end of the day he left behind a lot of disgruntled squad players, always played players out of position and as a life long villa fan they became boring to watch.I am looking forward to fresh blood in the drivers seat, holte enders in the sky.
  20. Also, you can't say that Learner didn't give O'Neil the money he needed, they paid their players exceptionally well. Their wage bills are some of the highest in the premier league...

    also,
