I am amazed that Coors Field is not packed every game. I will do my part on Thursday. Sitting in row 2 at the end of the Rockies dugout.

Lol I love it when people complain when fans don't show up for a losing team. People should spend their money on a bad product and give money to people who are doing a bad job running the team? O rly? Fuck that. If the team sucks, the best way for any fan to show his displeasure is by not going to games and giving money to the owners. That's the only way you're going to spur them into any action.
Lack of attendance can help create an incentive for the ownership to make the team better (or try attendance stunts...but in the long run, those won't create sustainable crowds). -
I didn't read the post this was referring to, but great post.

It's the reason I've always called Cubs fans the stupidest fans in baseball...until the last decade or so when they've been competitive.
Why go out and sign a big name FA when the stadium is already packed for a 70-92 team??
EDIT--I'm obv a biased Cards fan, too, but there's definitely a lot of truth to it. -
3 up with 5 to go. The Braves could easily run the table. Can the Rockies win 3 more? I think this is a coin flip despite ESPN projecting the Rockies as having a 92.5% chance of winning it. The Rockies pretty much need to win the next 2 against the Brewers and then 1 against the Dodgers.
The problem is that the Rockies pitching has been suspect as of late. It is not good when your closer blows a save for only the second time all year in the last week of the season. The good news is that the Dodgers are playing like shit.
It is fun to have such a tight race and the playoff should be great also as all for teams will be very even in terms of records and talent. I don't see a distinct advantage to anyone at this point. -
If you think this is a coin flip, I would love to make a $100 bet with you. In fact, since it is a coin flip, you should be thrilled with 6-5 odds.

If Rockies make the playoffs, you pay me $100.
If Braves make the playoffs, I pay you $120.
Deal? -
I'll give 3-1 on the Rockies making the playoffs for everything I'm worth.

Wow Underdog nice odds you gave there. Why don't you take the Globetrotters even money versus the Generals while you're at it.

I have made one bet on sports in the last five years and Stynsty71 got $20.11 from me. No more sports betting for me. I suck at it. Plus it's baseball. I once bet on the Braves to win a playoff game. I lost because a throw from centerfield hit the pitchers mound and bounced out of play.
How bout them Dads? They should have been playing their young guys all along maybe?
Did you know Admiral played against Chase Headly in high school and with him one summer on a club team? He is a good kid.
EDIT: I will admit right here and now that I exaggerated the coin flip comment. It mostly had to do with the fact that the Braves get to finish with 4 against the Nationals. -
LOL, he said it was a coin flip. I would def take 6-to-5 if someone offered that to me on a coin flip.

FTR, I was proving a point. I'm sure Willywoo will turn down the bet. -
Yes, the anger is evident. Especially with the big LOL to start my reply. Er, what?

The Padres were willing to spend decent money before. It just so happens that John Moores married a gold digging <STRIKE>cunt</STRIKE> (whoops I know you don't like that word) woman

Slick brag: back when I was a Padres season ticket holder I got to meet John Moores and had a chance to talk to him for a bit. He's an incredibly nice, down-to-earth guy. But the Padres lost their edge when Lucchino left the club to go make the Red Sox World Series champs.

Edit: I met Larry once too. Just before a game, I was just walking through the park and he was walking the other way. I said, "Hi Larry" and he stopped and said hi and shook my hand. We're practically BFF. -
ty, I was going to use the Cubs as an example but I figured that would set off 10 pages of crazy responses. lol. Couldn't agree more though

I guy I work with, his son is one of the Spanos bro's godsons so he knows the Moores kind of through that connection. He's been trying to the Spanos to buy them, doesn't think it will happen
