1. I'm pretty sure that I read here that they were banned in some states. Can they be fought? My friend got one today and asked me to ask OT. She and her hubby were also driving from FL to AL last week and a PLANE clocked them doing 75 in a 65 and radioed to a cop who gave them a ticket, so she's hoping she can get out of one of the two BS tickets they got this week.

The camera ticket was in NY if that makes any difference.
  2. Damn shame to be fresh out of SAM missiles when you really, really need one.
  3. Due the crime, pay the fine... imo, the tickets are not BS.
  4. ugh...i hate those...we have them all over here...i've received a few...good thing is they don't go on your driving record...just tell your friend to pay it...they have you on camera...they even have a link online that shows you the video.
  5. If you're going to speed or blow red lights just suck it up and pay.
  6. She was stuck in the middle of the intersection b/c the car in front of her was too busy talking on her phone to pay attention she said. It was her husband who got the speeding ticket, this is a girl who gets honked for going to slow in the left lane.

  7. oh, well if that's the case then they won't give it to her. if she was already in the middle of the intersection, she's safe. i've never got one for speeding...but i have been guilty of running orange lights. ;)
  8. no, the speeding was clocked by a plane lol...2 separate incidents. She was in the middle of the intersection when the camera got her going through the red camera, though.

  9. im all about not giving tickets but for fucks sakes learn how to drive... too busy talking on the phone to pay attention? hope those people die

I would like to see the rest of her list if a poker website message board that she's not a member of was the first stop for legal advice.
  17. They should challenge both tickets. The only things paying tickets without a fight does for you are increases in your insurance premiums, emptying of your bank account and showing local government that you are their bitch for whatever fine they feel like giving you.

Then she deserves a ticket..who cares what its for.
  19. Am I the only one who finds it odd that your friend needs advice, so she asks you to ask people on a poker site for her?

Do you talk about this site often or something? None of my friends have heard about this site or know I post on here, and definitely wouldn't think to ask me to get advice for them from some random internetsite.

I don't know, I'm kinda drunk, and maybe it's just me...but it just struck me as kind of weird.
  20. the OT area is hardly a poker site, if anything it seems kinda anti-poker

  21. Ask the judge for 5th amendment right to cross examine your accuser.

The accuser is a camera so it might be tough for them to produce this.
  22. I beat a red light (photo)ticket last month. the law here says if the front of your car has entered the intersection before the light turns red your safe, technically any part of your car or any part of the intersection, if you contest it and its close or questionable they will throw it out....

Well, she's met people from this site before so she obviously knows about it. I also mentioned that there have been threads about camera tickets in the past.

  24. So your friend was ACTUALLY clocked on radar doing 10 miles over the speed limit? And you think it is a BS ticket? They were speeding and deserve a ticket. Im sure they passed a road sign that said: "Speed clocked by aircraft" or something of that nature. We have them all over the south. Stop trying to circumvent the system. If you break a law, you should be disciplined. That's life, get over it. Nobody is/should be above the law.
  25. No, she doesn't want to fight that one just couldn't believe a PLANE clocked her. They don't do that in NY. The thread was about the camera ticket hence the thread title. The other part was pretty irrelevant.

  26. tsxxx post make my head hurt so fucking much.
  27. Don't planes judge speed by timing and marks on the road, not radar?

This. I'm fairly certain they measure time it takes to travel a known distance, using markers, etc. (No, planes aren't pointing radar guns at cars...)
From what I've heard, it generally hold up in court, tho.
  29. They already paid that ticket. No way were they going to fly to AL just to fight a ticket for going 10mph over the speed limit. I only put that in the OP cuz I was flabbergasted that they do this in parts of the country.

  30. Oh. I thought you were asking how/if they could get out of either one of the 2 tickets. Altho, it's def easier to fight a 10MPH> ticket vs 25 obv, as I'd guess that they allow for 2-3 MPH error in estimating your speed. Just a guess- I have no idea what their margin for error actually is. If I went to court, I'd try that angle tho- that it's not an exact science, etc.
