    Zippy is still a personal hero of mine.

    While yes it was a kids show, this particular clip was filmed for an unofficial battle of filthy/funny versions of television programs produced by thames valley tv. It was never shown on actual television and only made its way into the public domain thanks to the internetwebz.

    This was a special version of Rainbow.

    Back in the late '70s, Thames TV got a few of their regular shows to film an adult version to be shown at the staff Christmas party. Somehow this work of brilliance survived. Genius. I'm pretty sure Rod, Jane and Freddy (the three hippy musicians) were having a regular threesome.

    Never heard of Zippy.

    Obviously the scarecrow from Bob the Builder is based on him though.
