Catching a foul ball or a homerun, getting a ball that was used by the pros is one of the perks to going to a baseball game. They even encourage you to bring a glove ffs. Then they sell seats right along the field and give you a chance to interfere with the fucking game and then they berate the hell out of you when you do, lol. Why sell seats that are right on the field where even midgets like bartman can easily reach over and interfere with the game? Because the extra money earned from the ticket sale is more important than protecting the integrity of the game obv. And if that's not it, then fan interference is actually part of the game and people should just fuckin deal with it, imo.
By the way, last I checked, there was 1 on 1 out in the 8th with the cubs up 3-0..how again did this cost them a trip to the WS? lol baseball. -

why is this baseballs fault? is ron artest punching a fan just proof of why basketball is stupid?
and no one over 12 is encouraged to bring their glove.
now go design a stadium with a moat between the stands and the field so no seats are in any position where anyone could interfere with a ball. im sure every team will love the idea. -
there were several other fans going for the ball too, bartman was just the one unlucky enough to touch it. i have always believed that moises alou's hissy fit contributed just as much to the meltdown as anything. when i watched it live, i remember thinking- is this guy for real? i've seen plenty of fan interference against their own team before, but he was the only clown to have a temper tantrum about it on the field. his whole attitude put that negative vibe in the players' minds. if he just goes back to his position, gonzalez fields that ground ball, and the cubs find an equally heartbreaking way to lose to the yankees in the WS.

It's baseball's fault because they encourage catching foul balls and then harass the hell out of some guy for doing it while wearing a cubs hat. There's no correlation between this and ron artest attacking someone for throwing beer on him, don't even try that shit.

A moat? how about 3 feet? It would never get approved though because like I said, the extra row of seats is worth way more than that "sports" integrity. -
I was there for both Game 6 and Game 7. I was talking to Bernie Mac when Bartman got in the way.
Edited By: dolphin13 Sep 27th, 2011 at 07:06 PM
Both nights there were massive crowds outside the stadium waiting to celebrate. Game 6 people were shocked but they were convinced Wood would win for them the next night.
Here are a coupel pics I scanned in (back int eh day when I had my pics developed)
These are from Game 7. First is from just before Game 7 and the last one is as the final out was

recorded.

these are not my pics just some general Bartman shots

Last time I heard of a stadium w/ a moat, homey fell and split his shit/died right in front of his son--just saying.

"baseball" harassed bartman?

and how do you get 3 feet between the stands and the field. you have to put something there because some people are clever and if it's just space without seats they may figure out that they can stand up, step forward and lean against the rail. -
look I don't know and I def don't care. I'm not trying to fix the problem I'm just pointing it out. Baseball fans harassed bartman, they are apart of baseball aren't they? Let's not get into petty semantics and just agree that the whole foul ball issue is fucking retarded, otherwise I'm done arguing with you.

The media and broadcasters had just as much to do with what happened to Bartman. If I remember correctly, they kept zooming in on his face and making comments. Not negative comments but things like "poor guy" and stuff like that. The guy is apparently still in exile somewhere in Florida or something.
-
Not true. Fans of other teams couldn't give a rats ass about Bartman. Really, it was just entertainment/shock value for other fans such as myself.
It was Cub fans that harrassed Bartman and pretty self explanatory why they did (not saying it was acceptable, just understandable). -
Im looking forward to this tonight. I really hope they do a little, "where is he now?" segment.
-
i just saw the preview on espn, looks pretty good. DVR set
-
This looks like it will be the best E:60 yet. Although Bartman making an appearance would put it over the top. Im assuming he wasnt interviewed.

Go to 5:05 for the real reason why they lost the lead -
I get mad just thinking about it and not because of what bartman did but because of how what he did was exactly what 95% of fans would have done and because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time it changed his life for ever.
I get pissed because he gets blamed for the cubs blowing a 3-1 lead with 5 outs to go and the best pitcher in baseball at the time on the mound. Alex Gonzalez gets the biggest free pass in the history of time for his error immediately following bartman which was a horrendously costly error which without we probably still win the game. But no one mentions that error.
It's such a joke that bartman took any flack for what happened let alone have it completely ruin his life and force him to relocate and face death threats etc.
I loved Alou as a player but he was a little bitch of a person and he was a little bitch big time following that play. -
Pretty much what I said. Fox screwed this guy's life up IMO. They kept showing it. They get zooming in on his face. They showed him being escorted out by security. They kept talking about him. Also, Moises Alou acted like a complete cunt. As someone noted above, his negative overreaction to this is what kept "the curse" alive. It rubbed off on everybody it seemed and they never recovered.
-
They just need to let billy goats back in wrigley, problem solved.

While i think Bartman got a raw deal, people are downplaying the fact that Bartman's a dumbass and the fact that giving an extra out is suicide in the playoffs especially in clutch situations in a closeout game, which is the hardest game to win.
For one, if u look at the picture, not everybody was going to interfere with Alou, they were just waiting in anticipation if the foul ball became out of play and somehow came to them. Once Alou was in range and had a good shot to catch the ball, Bartman should have backed off and LET Alou catch the ball. To give Bartman a pass and say he was in the wrong place, wrong time is bullshit.
I've been to my share of baseball games, and any knowledgeable fan with any concept of the time, score, and meaning of the situation would have let Alou try and catch the ball. That's the whole purpose of being at home. Bartman was just a dumbass zoning out listening to God knows what in his headphones and was just focused on the foul ball and his natural inclination to catch the ball. He should not get a pass for this.
I guarantee if i was in Bartman's shoes Alou would have caught that ball(in all likelihood) and the jolt that would give to the defense and most importantly, the pitcher in that situation is immeasurable. 2 outs with one on in a 3-1 game is way different that same situation, 1 out and the team feeling like it got cheated of an out and the above situation. It just puts that more pressure on the pitcher and the defense behind them. I have to think that had a major part in Alex's error and who knows if he even gets that good of a pitch to hit if its 2 outs.
Bartman's an idiot and doesn't deserve his life ruined over it(it was just the LWCS ffs) but that doesn't excuse his dumbass behavior. 95% of cub fans in that situation fall back and let Alou catch the ball.
