  1. I auto pay my Verizon Wireless phone. I happened to look this month and see a $9.99 charge from a 99502 smsgamecheats. Its been going on for at least 12 months. I call Verizon to find out what it is and they say its something I signed up for (which I 100% never did). He removes the most recent charge and blocks them from further texting me. The fraud department was closed, but I plan on filing report, but I doubt it will do any good. I looked around online and apparently this company is notorious for texting your phone and charging you without your knowledge. I realize its my fault for not looking at my bill every month, but I am still super pissed.

Anone else ever have something like this happen?
  2. nope, but I've heard about it. Good luck
  3. these things totally blow my mind. how do you go for 12 months and not notice an ongoing charge.

    responsibility. try it.

  5. So this means you never check your account details? You must have missed the "responsibility" part of that post, then. Moron.

I have unlimited text and data and everyone I know has Verizon, so I never go over my minutes. So my bill is the same every month, I believe its suppose to be around $102/ month. With this charge my bill is $112. The bill gets automatically charged to my cc every month and I pay that bill. Somehow along the way it jumped the $10 and I never noticed it. Its not like it was an extra $100 amonth and I didnt notice it, it was $9.99.

The point of my post was to ask if its ever happened to anyone and what did they do about it. Or maybe help another ot'er who has Verizon. I admitted that its my fault for not checking my bill every month, but Im past that point now and need to find out what I can do. If it makes you feel better to come in here and call me some names instead, then so be it.

i think his post was despite the situation, it's still something you should have noticed.

and I had a similar $10 charge, but i caught it as soon as the bill was received. ATT refunded the charge, but said it was a 3rd party that i signed up for.
  8. These fucken dodgy ass things piss me off no end! Definitely get in touch with fraud dept and see what you can do! But in the end I guess check your bill, $120 lesson learned right!

Don't get all butt sore. Or, do . . . I could care less. When it comes to money, I am a nit. I check every bill, and know my balances at all times. I have never had shit like this slip by for a year. You will probably get the last month's charge reversed, but all the others are going to stick. Learn your lesson, take five minutes a month, and check your friggin' statements.
  10. ok, so you don't check your phone bill. but you know what to expect every month.

so, then when the "autopay" being charged to your CC jumped by $10 why didn't you notice that?

obviously you are lacking somewhere in the responsibility department. whether its at the phone bill end or at the CC bill end.

if "responsibility" is checking you cell phone bill and noticing a $10 charge then Im pretty fucked
  12. no idea, could be happening to me right now.
  13. loooool at all the dad's in here. OP your clearly not responsible. This post has nothing to do with the fact verizon lets an outside party charge you for something you didnt buy.

My cc bill every month probably has 25-30 charges on it a month, it just wasn't something that stuck out. The only reason I even noticed now was I went on to my account to cancel having a ringback tone and started looking at my breakdown. The jump wasn't big enough to stick out.

  15. You should have seen it ten years ago. I used to work in customer service and sales for residential phones. I worked for Verizon. We were advised basically to retract mostly all of the charges that people called about. A lot of customers had no clue that they were paying an AOL charge of 29.99/month. They downloaded that CD that AOL usued to give out and whether or not they were getting internet service was an afterthought. 8 months later if and when they realized it they got a 240 dollar credit no questions asked

A lot of companies out there are able to charge your phone bill based on ridiculous agreements. A lot of the people entered into the agreement unknowingly. Some of the charges that I remember had people signing up for VOICEMAIL! Big charge upfront and ten dollars/month. It was pretty fucking bad. When you think about the fact that Verizon provided voicemail to customers for less than 5 bux/month but they allowed an unknown company to charge a startup fee and over ten bux/month for a service tht was never even provided probably over 90 percent of the time Craziest part about it like I said was that Verizon managers said ya don't even question it just credit the account.

I can't even begin to imagine how many people missed those charges and just paid it. Nobody is going to point it out to you.

Verizon Wireless also had an issue in the last two years with people being improperly charged for internet time on cell phones. They gave credits out last year. I still think they probably didn't give out enough credit to the average consumer but who knows.
