Below is an email I received today from the Poker Players Alliance. I thought some in OT might find it interesting, (talking to you Underdog), and it is a nice way to speak to the GOP about its platform
I am writing to share with you an opportunity to help shape the 2008 Republican party Platform. As you may know, the 2000 and 2004 GOP platforms actually advocated a federal ban of Internet poker! From the 2004 platform: "We support legislation prohibiting gambling over the Internet." It doesnt get any clearer than that.
Do you want the 2008 Republican Party Platform to have similar language? I know I dont. Fortunately, we have an opportunity this year to submit our comments to the people writing the platform, at www.gopplatform2008.com . Simply do the following:- Register at www.gopplatform2008.com/joinus.aspx (youll receive an email with your password for the site).
- Click "Submit Text Entry" (at the top right) to submit a typed message, or "Submit Video Entry" to upload a video message.
- Write a short pro-poker message, choose a category, then click submit. It's that easy!
You can search for other entries by going to www.gopplatform2008.com/rpc_wordsearch.aspx and inputting search terms like poker, gaming, gambling, UIGEA, etc.
Lets ALL do our part to tell the GOP that Americans still care about their liberty. Please submit your comments today, and please dont forget to tell your friends to join this effort. Thanks!
Proud to Play,
Alfonse D'Amato, Chairman

Thanks Slugger, that is indeed interesting.
It wouldn't really be fair for me to give the Republicans input on their platform, but I would encourage any Republicans in OT to do this. The Republican position on this particular issue is garbage.
