so a good friend of mine, 26 years old, has been dipping on and off occasionally since highschool. however, over the last year it's been multiple times a week and lately just about every day. obviously by this point he's pretty sure he's addicted, especially because he gets intense cravings for it whenever he's on adderol.
he's asked me to make a bet with him that he can't go an entire year w/o dipping. he's up for any amount, and wants to get this signed and in writing on sunday, march 16th. it'd solely be based on the honor system since i can't monitor him at all times. and yes, i can take up dipping myself whenever i'm around just to try and entice him.
so OT, what's the proper dollar figure i should be willing to risk? i know it's subjective, so to give me an idea just let me know what YOU would wager.
and keep in mind, this guy has more will power and discipline than anyone i know. -
"and keep in mind, this guy has more will power and discipline than anyone i know."
Should probably just ask yourself how much money your trying to lose and thats your answer if the above statement is true. -
$1500

dont do this.... my buddy who seems very similar in will power and such was a heavy heavy dipper... he cut it out cold turkey and hit his year milestone about 2-3 weeks ago... If you really put your mind to it you can do it, he will experience shakes and shit for a little while but other than that....

make the bet once u notice him dipping multiple times a day i dipped off and on since high school too it is not hard to stop completely if you are only doing it off and on it becomes hard to stop if you are doing it consistently one, two, or three times a day. if this becomes the case for him he will have a very hard time not doing during times he gets bored throughout the day(it will be on his mind and he might give in to doing it)

if he is at 5+ dips per day for a little bit then i would bet A LOT. Chew hits the bloodstream directly, so it's better and more addictive than cigs. Don't overestimate ur friend if he's chewing several times a day. I'm on my 4th month of quitting chew, and it still seems like im trying so hard to change my lifestlye to dip-free. I enjoyed doing it so much, and it seemed like I did everything (after meals, during showers, while shitting, reading, POKER, driving, breaks at work, etc. wtc.) with a fat dip in my lip.
I have a gf who's annoyed with it and keeps me on my toes, so that helps tremendously. -
good point, i haven't seen him dipping multiple times in a day. he works at a small IT company, and he says he usually takes a dip after lunch. the other times that will be the toughest on him are while golfing (nice spring weather just around the corner), playing poker (about once a week), and while studying/reading (once a week). as i mentioned earlier, he takes adderol just about daily and the two almost go hand in hand for him, like oreos and milk.
also i just found out he's capping the bet at $2k, because anything over that and he wouldn't be able to afford losing. he's also trying to take action from all his friends just for the combined social experiment of overcoming peer pressure for a year, as well. -
its not to hard to quit chewing, I was a can can 1/2 a day for 2 years I quit cold turkey.
