If they are uninsured or on Medicare/aid or if they're a government employee with a taxpayer funded benefits package, then yes, you do directly pay their bills.

wtf are you talking about? The question is if people who don't wear seatbelts harm/impose costs upon anyone, not if people who don't wear seatbelts violate other peoples' Constitutional rights. And if that were the question it wouldn't make any fucking sense.

More than half of the states (28) require at least some motorcyclists to wear helmets. I wish it were 50, but what can you do.

This discussion started because you equated gay marriage with incest. They're clearly not the same, and linking them as you did is offensive. Legality aside, there are strong moral, practical, and biological reasons that relatives should not have that sort of relationship. None of those considerations apply to homosexuality.

    Humor me ...

not wearing a helmet doesn't make you a potential danger to someone else. not wearing your seatbelt does. hope that helps. my god...

you need evidence for common sense?

if a person is in a car and not wearing a seatbelt, it stands to reason that, during an accident or an incident where the driver must slam on his breaks, they can fly around the car and injure others. holy shit dude, nobody can be this dumb.

sure, why not? the driver is putting passengers at risk of added injury. why wouldn't you strap it down, anyways?

You think the reason we have safety belt laws is bc the person without a seatbelt becomes a weapon that could hurt other passengers?? Looooooool holy shit.

I didn't say that's the reason we have them, please show me where I said that, but it's reason enough for me to personally think we should have them, yes.

if that cabbie had passengers, does he possibly injure them? now what if he was wearing a seatbelt?

some of you are just not logical. nothing I can do about that.

huh? it's not about hurting yourself, it's about being a POTENTIAL danger to others.

I think basically any activity that could potentially harm someone else should be illegal. if it only has potential to harm yourself, then have at it.

Do you believe cigarettes should be illegal?
  17. morals change.

At one point it was almost wholly acceptable to have slaves. Then it wasn't.

Gays are on the agend aright now.maybe plural marriage will be universally accepted one day.

The incest thing gets a little tougher. As a society we've decided if you're of a certain age you can't really decide to have sex with someone over a certain age. plus you have scientific evidence about brother-sister/any close relative sex resulting in genetic problems inthe offspring. Just look at Joffrey

I have. They aren't strong in any moral, practical, or biological sense that I'm aware of.
  21. Can anyone else find LS's other argument(s) for outlawing incest?

no, but that's a slippery one. just like I don't think alcohol or drugs should be illegal, neither should smoking cigarettes. except for children, nobody is forcing anyone to be around smokers, but that's the parent's choice, and is a bad one, IMO. I think smoking around children should probably be illegal (and in the car I think it is in some states)

just like you can drink but not drive drunk, you can smoke, but there should always be regulations like where and what you can do.

gee do you actually read the posts you rant about? I'm sorry but if you ride in the car with the guy you made a choice and are not an "innocent" victim. Maybe children who can't make that decision are victims.

  25. if you ride in a car with a person that doesn't wear a seatbelt, it's YOUR fault, not the driver's.

    can't make this stuff up.

(the laws in many states also disagree)

SO illegal activities according to Waco:

Mountain Climbing, Crab Fishing, Almost any ocean travel, wilderness hiking, and on and on. Why? Because rescuers have been hurt and killed saving people during these activities. Clearly these activities represent a potential danger to others.
